A. TECHNICAL REPORT

I. RATIONALE

The One Town, One Product (OTOP-Philippines) is a priority program of the
government to promote entrepreneurship and create jobs. Through OTOP,
local chief executives of each city and municipality take the lead in
identifying, developing, and promoting a specific product or service, which
has a competitive advantage. OTOP-Philippines supports micro, small, and
medium enterprises (MSMEs) to manufacture, offer, and market distinctive
products or services through the use of indigenous raw materials and local
skills and talents.

OTOP Philippines is supported by the Technical Education and Skills


Development Authority (TESDA) through TESDA's Dangal ng Barangay
Program which seeks to develop every barangay's product throughout the
country, which could eventually graduate to an OTOP Product. OTOP
Accredited Products will be given priority in TESDA's training programs
related on enterprise development.

This project will help potential entrepreneurs to develop and promote


specific product or service of a particular barangay/town. Products/services
developed will be a source of additional income.

II. OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT

Generally, this program will provide an avenue for skills development for livelihood
and added income. Specifically, this project will help potential entrepreneurs to:

1. Acquire skills in making unique products made of indigenous raw materials


available in their area.

2. Equip them with business knowledge in starting and managing their own
business organization with skills in marketing, product promotion and
product packaging, and product costing.

III. EXPECTED OUTPUT

This “One Barangay One Product (OBOP) Program”, encourage growth of


micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the countryside through
the development of indigenous raw materials, and local skills and talents.
Through this project, beneficiaries should be able to develop and promote
specific product or service of a particular barangay/town. Products/services
developed will be a source of additional income.

IV. GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF project STRATEGIES

This project will be implemented in cooperation with Lead College


(CBAPA), Department of Accountancy and Management Accounting and the
Campus Extension and Training Services in support to its Adopt-A-Barangay
Program.

This project will provide comprehensive assistance and training package


which includes:
1. Business counseling
2. Skills and entrepreneurial training
3. Product designs and development
4. Marketing
5. Product Costing
6. Seminars and Technical Assistance Simple Bookkeeping and other
Financial Related Activities

The project’s initial activity is to identify indigenous raw materials of one


barangay that will serve as the input in product conceptualization and
product development. Several activities which are deemed necessary to
complete the project will be done such as business counseling, skills and
entrepreneurial training, marketing, product designs and development and
product costing, seminars and technical assistance simple bookkeeping and
other financial related activities. Skills development and enhancement
training will be the focused of this extension project.

V. PROGRESS REPORT
The Department of Accountancy and Management Accounting has
conducted the following feasibility studies during the first year of its
implementation.

- Galyang Chips

These studies will help guide project implementers in the transfer of


knowledge/technologies to the target beneficiaries. These include procedures on
how to manufacture and how to allocate cost to the finished products.

By this year, implementation of trainings and seminars will be the focus of the
project.
