a force is, and how it can change the

they’ve noticed and describe different
stories they had with forces.

What is the student learning goal for this lesson idea?

I can define what a force is.
I can use a podcast to record myself.

How do you plan to implement this lesson and integrate the technology? Check all that
apply:
X Teacher-led: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided
by the teacher's direction and expectations. Learning activities are assigned to the
student and mostly practice based.

☐ Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the
topic of learning and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. The
teacher facilitates the learning as the students direct their own learning processes.

X Problem-based and/or Publishable: Students are solving problems and completing

projects to demonstrate their learning. Additionally, the projects can be shared outside
of the classroom. (Note: This objective could be reached by displaying the project on
the school’s morning newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, presenting it
to another class, or publishing it via an outside source.)
Lesson idea implementation:
I plan to use this lesson as an introduction to forces. Because it is a flipped classroom. I
would want to present important information for the students first and provide them a
quick activity that we would come together to discuss the next in class day. I plan to show
the students how to use anchor, so they are able to record themselves, and they can listen
to their peers as well. It can be done as a whole class where I am able to hear different
stories and perspectives of the students. I would allow the students to explore the
technology and answer any questions they may have regarding how to use it effectively. I
will provide them samples of different podcasts and guiding points I want to them to talk
about. As I listen to the student curated podcasts, I will make notes on what they discussed
and see if they are being factual enough. This lesson will end when all students have
submitted their final podcasts, and they will summarize what they learned from this
process.
Managing student learning:
I feel that this tool may not cause a shift as some students will remain passive learners
when they listen to the podcasts. Others may become more active social learners since
they will share out new things they learned and try to find more information. I will try to
set time limits to how long they should listen to a podcasts because they could end up
more distracted. I want to see their storyboards/draft before they record their podcast;
this is to limit the amount of takes they have to do. I will have them ask their peers for
assistance first before coming to me. This is to encourage collaboration, and they can be
self sufficient.
Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Reflection:
I focused on multiple means of representation when I designed this lesson. I felt that
podcasts would have benefited all students since they are able to listen to me talk about a
topic without having them read a lengthy article. I also provided a transcript for students
who may have a hearing impairment. I want these students to be able to follow and
understand the content.

Reflection:
Having students create a podcast will impact their learning since they are using a new tool
to demonstrate to me what they gathered from the lesson. They have to be creative and
think outside the box. I look forward to seeing what type of podcast they can create either
by themselves or in a small group as they will contribute something different to the
conversation.
