These two texts were chosen by the writer for a variety
of reasons, the first was to engage students to the new
topic of love, were collaborative discussion of ideas and themes would take place. The second text was selected, one to support and present a challenge for readers by having varied levels of the book, supported by audios and videos which were made available. The writer wanted the students to discover complexity of love, how one group may perceive it as olden style, another culture could see it as modern by reading this text and discussing this notion would be discovered. And from this they move in to poems in the class textbook, hopefully with a analytical lens to see what these mean to them as readers and how they can demystify them and maybe even relate to them.
