7. Construction Flow Chart

Construction Sequence for Tugboat berth pile Driving is shown as follows:

8. Construction Methodology
Manpower, materials, and construction equipment shall be deployed, prepared
before commencement of works.

8.1 Temporary Steel Trestle

Figure 8-1: PLAN OF TEMPORARY STEEL TRESTLE

Figure 8-2: ELEVATION OF TEMPORARY STEEL TRESTLE

(1)First step would be to excavate the existing ground and pour the concrete
retaining wall for Temporary Steel Trestle as shown in the below picture. A layer of 1-
100kg rock shall be placed and roller compacted for foundation of concrete retaining
wall before its casting.
Figure 8-3: RETAINING WALL

(2) The piles for Temporary Steel Trestle will be driven first and double I-beam
56a will be installed by the crane and then the precast concrete beam will be installed
using crane as shown in the below picture..

(3)When the prefabricated beams are installed,I-BEAM I25a and CHANNEL [28a
will be welded on the top of prefabricated beams

Figure 8.7: CHANNEL [28a installation

8.2 Pile casing driving

In the piling construction, we use the pile casing for two purposes:
(1) Using pile casing can let the piling construction safer in the process of
engineering piles lifting and standing.
(2) A limit device can set on the pile casing for locating engineering piles.
Construction sequence: positioning frame installation→Adjust the center of the
pile casing→pile casing driving
a. Positioning frame installation
First double I-BEAM 2Ⅰ56a is welded to the Temporary Steel Trestle deck, and
then the positioning frame is welded to the double I-BEAM 56a.
150T crawler crane lifting the positioning frame on the top of the double I-BEAM
2Ⅰ56a, surveyors make measurements to ensure that the center of the positioning
frame is roughly in line with the engineering pile center. Then the welder welds the
positioning frame firmly to the double I-BEAM 56a.

Figure 8.8: positioning frame installation

Figure 8.9: pile casing installation

b. Adjust the center of the pile casing

We will use diameter of 1.2m steel tube as the pile casing, 150T crawler crane
lifting the pile casing into the positioning frame, the workers cooperate with the
surveyors adjust limit device(It is composed of roller and push rod) to make the
center of the pile casing consistent with the center of the engineering pile.

Figure 8.10: limit device on positioning frame

c. Pile casing driving
150T crawler crane use ICE-44B vibration hammer to drive the pile casing into
the ground, during the pile casing driving the workers still need to cooperate with the
surveyors adjust limit device to make the center of the pile casing consistent with the
center of the engineering pile.

Figure 8.11: pile casing driving

8.3 Tubular pile driving

Construction sequence: tubular pile lifting→Adjust the center of the tubular
pile→tubular pile driving with vibration hammer→tubular pile driving with hydraulic
hammer
a. tubular pile lifting
The maximum weight of the tubular pile is 15t,we will use 150t and 80t crawler
cranes to lift it together, lifting test shall be done and witnessed by ER HSE
representative before pile driving production will be commenced. The lifting plan
prepared is shown in Appendix B.
When tow truck transport the pile to the site, 150t crawler crane stand in the pile
head side,80t crawler crane stand in the pile toe side, use the wire rope to fix the
head and toe Respectively, 2 crawler cranes to lift pile together and let it higher than
the tow truck about 1m, and then tow truck leave away, 150t crawler crane continue
to lift the pile head gradually, 80t crawler crane start to move close to the 150t
crawler crane gradually, when pile horizontal angle about 75°,put the pile toe on
ground and untie the wire rope, then the 150t crawler crane put the pile into the pile
casing alone.
Figure 8.12: tubular pile lifting
b. Adjust the center of the tubular pile
After 150T crawler crane lifting the tubular pile into the pile casing, the workers
cooperate with the surveyors adjust limit device installed on the casing pile to ensure
the center of the engineering pile meet the requirement.
c. tubular pile driving with vibration hammer
150T crawler crane use ICE-44B vibration hammer to drive the tubular pile into
the ground, during the tubular pile driving the workers incessantly cooperate with the
surveyors adjust limit device to make the center of the tubular pile consistent with the
center of the design.
d. tubular pile driving with hydraulic hammer
150T crawler crane lift the BSP CG240 hydraulic hammer and put it on the top of
the tubular pile, surveyor will take driving record while hammer strikes, until meet the
stop criteria .

9. Quality Control
9.1 Overall Quality Control Measures
(1) Instruments or equipment shall be verified by surveyor before usage and
provided its Calibration certificates.
(2) Equipment department checking the cranes’ daily records to ensure that the
instruments are under normal condition.
(3)Technical supervisor shall conduct technical clarification before construction
works start.
(4)Construction works shall comply with the latest revision of approved drawings.
9.2 Quality Control Measures for Key process
Anticorrosive coating protection

(1)The protective measures of anticorrosive coating must be taken when the pile
is transporting, storing, and driving. The contact part between the pile and its
supports shall be covered with cloth cushion to prevent the coating damage.
(2)The Anticorrosive coating which use for pile must have a certificate of
compliance.
(3)Check the integrity of the coating before pile driving, if there is any coating
damage, the damaged part shall be repaired again.
Pile driving control

(1)Surveyors shall monitor pile deviation constantly during pile driving to correct
deviation.

10. Health, Safety, Security and Environment
10.1 HSE Measures
CHELE is committed to a safe and healthy work environment in line with our
HSE policy, plan & manual. We will endeavor to ensure approved HSE procedures
for the projects are complied with throughout the construction process. In this regard
Risk Assessments/Job Hazard Analysis (RA/ JHA’s) will be conducted at all new or
complex activity. The HSSE Department in conjunction with the work supervisors,
foremen and workers who carry out the work shall conduct a thorough risk
assessment / job hazard analysis to identify the hazards/risk associated with the job,
identify which workers or group of workers are particularly at risk, evaluate the risk
and develop controls.
The Risk and Control measure identified in the attach RA will be strictly
implemented in conjunction with relevant requirements of the Project HSE plan and
other associated project HSE requirements.
