1. Purpose

This method of statement shows and explains the procedure that must be followed for the
construction of additional beam support at the place of coring hole rib damage.

2. Scope of Work

While working on coring hole, the precast slab’s rib was damaged. To provide an extra
support at weakened rib, an additional support beam shall be constructed. This proposed
beam shall rest on existing structural beam. Below is the procedure to be followed :

Step 1. Removing the existing water proofing slab, as per required dimensions (300mm
wideX300mm deep) as shown in the attached drawings below.

Step 2. Existing precast slab to be chipped at 1 metre interval until existing slab steel is
exposed. Then, the stirrups of the proposed beam shall be tied.

Step 3. After installing the steel of the proposed beam, formwork shall be prepared.

Step 4. Concrete shall be poured and curing will be done continuously until required
strength of concrete is achieved.

Step 5. After curing, the entire working area will be restored as per existing water proofing
system.

 The quality assurance and control for the above mentioned activities shall be
exercised and recorded in accordance with the contract documents.
 The quality assurance shall be ensured for workmanship, equipment and materials
conformance to the applicable standards and requirements at every stage of the
activities.
