Letter from the President

Dear Friends,

It is with great joy and anticipation that I welcome you to the 2022
GFA International Convention and Competitions!  It has been 3
years since we gathered in Miami. I have missed our guitar family,
and this week, I look forward to seeing old friends reconnect,
meeting new arrivals to our community, and to us all finding our
comfort zone together.

If you come with a mask or without a mask, from Eureka or from

Europe, for the first time or for the tenth time—we welcome you!
This week we celebrate the Hall of Fame induction of legends
Eduardo Fernandez and Eliot Fisk; we celebrate the inclusion of
what we learned from the last two years with the inclusion of more
streamed events, including our education, research, and guitar society track days; and we celebrate the return of all of us, together.

I’d like to give a big shout out to our host Nemanja Ostojic, who has weathered the ups and downs of scheduling and rescheduling
this event with grace. This week is possible thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, and the hard work and creative imagination
of our staff – hats off to these behind-the-scenes heroes who allow us to enjoy the events of the week. May Convention 2022 be an
event that reinforces the power of our presence together!

INDIANA

A Message from Nem Ostojić

University of Indianapolis

Dear friends of guitar,

I am simply thrilled to be able to resume the in-person annual Guitar Foundation of America International Convention and
Competitions, humbly serving as the host for the very first time, but hopefully not the last.

The last two years were very challenging and testing for all of us in the field of performing arts. I am glad we were able to
resume this wonderful and deeply impactful event, overcoming the serious obstacles you and I were all facing.

As some of you know, UIndy was scheduled to host the 2020 GFA convention, but then the world turned dark. Needles to say,
our enthusiasm is renewed, and we are looking forward to see the convention unfold in Indianapolis, after nearly 7 years of
planning, hoping, and fundraising.

This 2022 convention is a recovering one, a spring towards to the great old times. As such, it may not be the most visited one
in the history, but it certainly is the special one, a stepping stone towards the GFAs we all remembered, looked forward to, and
planned our lives around every summer!

Furthermore, now nearing its 50th anniversary, the GFA never took place in the state of Indiana. As a Hoosier and, since
recently, a citizen of the United States of America, I take pride in bringing this extraordinary event to the city I call home, to
share with my students, friends, colleagues, and everyone else.

None of this would have been possible without the continuous, seven-year long effort and commitment by our UIndy
GFA team. I would like to give special thanks to our Vice President Andy Kocher, our Associate VP of Advancement Janel
Bogenschutz, UIndy professors Dr. Brett Leonard, Peter Nichols, Associate Dean Dr. Brenda Clark, our incredible friend Linda
Conti, as well as many others who wholeheartedly supported this endeavor in many ways from its beginning!

Above all, I want to thank a very special and generous person, Mr. Jerry Roush. All of us at the convention would hereby like to
express our most sincere gratitude for supporting our students, our department, our concert series, as well as this one-of-a-kind
convention! Thank you, Jerry!

To conclude…Welcome to Indianapolis, the racing capital of the world! Although we won’t watch any automotive races this
week, we are sure to enjoy some skillful and fast fingers on guitar! And no, we won’t be at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, but
you will enjoy one of the finest concert halls in the world, the Viennese-styled Ruth Lilly Performance Hall!

Welcome to Indy, and have a great time!

Dr. Nem Ostojić

GREAT MUSIC AT YOUR FINGERTIPS

WWW.MELBAY.COM - EMAIL: ORDERS@MELBAY.COM - PHONE: 800.863.5229
Here is a book for guitarists who wish to develop their instrumental capabilities to the
point of mastery. It will help internalize the most important aspects of practicing
and performing music: Mechanism, the set of acquired reflexes that makes playing the
guitar possible; Technique, the procedures to follow in order to master a given passage or
overcome a given difficulty; and Learning a Mechanism or Technique, the process of
acquiring a reflex or of mastering a passage or overcoming a specific difficulty. The
exercises strive to ingrain proper techniques and mechanisms both physically and mentally,
making the interpretation of music feel natural to the guitarist. The author encourages the
guitarist to conquer musical difficulties through critical and intelligent analysis rather than
mere repetition. These techniques are intended to return the indispensable feeling of
creative playing to musical work, having freed the student from consciously focusing on the
physical aspects of playing. Musical examples are in standard notation. (MB20069 - $19.99)

In this presentation, I will analyze the idiosyncrasies, challenges, limits, and affordances of the guitar’s "pitch surface": its
fretboard and tuning. Whatever the context—staff notation, music theory, improvisation, performance, and other arenas of guitar
activity—the layout of the fretboard exerts a profound influence on how guitarists learn, play, and compose. Inspired by De Souza,
Goodrick, and Martino, I will also explore the benefits of creative constraints: scordatura, capo, MIDI tools, and other ways of
remapping the guitar’s pitch matrix. These constraints can be used to break the guitarist’s tight auditory-motor link, revitalizing
the fretboard as a primary musical space and insightful musical "abacus."

Michael Partington is one of the most engaging concert players of his generation. Praised by Classical Guitar Magazine for his
“lyricism, intensity and clear technical command,” this award-winning British guitarist has performed to unanimous critical
praise. Audiences are put at ease by his charming stage manner and captivated by his interpretations. An innate rhythmic
understanding and sense for tonal colour combine to form some of the most memorable phrasing to be heard on the guitar.

He has appeared throughout North America, Europe, Russia and Scandinavia as a soloist and with ensembles, and live radio
performances include BBC Radio 3’s In Tune, BBC Wales, and St. Paul Sunday on National Public Radio. He has nine solo
CD’s for Rosewood Recordings, and can be heard on the Cadenza and Present Sounds labels. An advocate of new music he has

in Guildford. His students have won prizes in regional, national and international competitions, and scholarships and awards to
study all over the world.

“There is much praise that one can offer to a performer such as Partington, but he is one of those artists who possess a magic
combination of a fluid technique with a wealth of musicianship. The refined manner of his sound, and his sense of phrase,
articulation and dynamic were all conveyed with extraordinary attention to detail.”
Guy Traviss, Classical Guitar Magazine

“Nimble, mercurial, subtle, and emotionally engaging, Partington’s playing consistently beguiles the ear, whether he is probing
classics of the repertoire or brand-new pieces composed for him. He draws a spectacular array of effects and shades from his
instrument.”
Melinda Bargreen, Seattle Times

“He presented a huge cross range of music played with a physical virtuosity that it’s a pleasure to watch as well as listen to.
Partington, for all his modesty, is a genius and I would encourage you to catch him while you can. The audience were enchanted
by this performance and by him too.”

The Guitar Works of Claudio Santoro: Challenging the Performer and the Brazilian Guitar Canon
The classical guitar repertory in the 20th and 21st centuries is significantly marked by major contributions from Brazilian
composers. Names such as Heitor Villa-Lobos, Radamés Gnattali, and Sérgio Assad come easily to mind, just as the sound of
pungent rhythms and idiomatic lyricism come to the ears, thus creating an idea of Brazilian guitar music. Interestingly enough,
Brazilian composer Claudio Santoro (1919-1989) – one of the most distinguished and prolific Brazilian composers in the 20th
century – writes his guitar works rather posing a challenge to the above said notion of Brazilian guitar repertory. As a non-
guitarist composer, he strays from the nationalistic stereotype and from overused idiomatic strategies, bringing forth pieces
that explore unparalleled textures and rich harmonies emanating from concise pitch material explored with mastery. Santoro’s
body of guitar works consists of four pieces: Preludes No. 1 and No. 2 (1982), Etude N.1 (1982), and Fantasia Sul-América
(1983). Besides the high level of technique that these pieces demand from any guitar player, in them one can also find tremolos,
arpeggios, harmonics and rasgueos that pose challenges the imaginative mind of the performer. This lecture aims mainly to: 1)
Present attendees with a panorama of the Brazilian guitar repertory beyond the nationalistic stereotypes; 2) Foster knowledge
on the works of Claudio Santoro, approaching it through music analysis, historical context, and insights from guitarists that
collaborated with the composer; This lecture is a result of the research done Felipe Garibaldi de Almeida on his Master’s thesis
“Obra de Claudio Santoro para Violão Solo: contexto de criação, análise musical e sugestões técnico interpretativas” (2014) at the
University of São Paulo (USP), Brazil.

invited as a guest in several festivals and he has given the first performance of many contemporary works of important
composers, like
Angelo Gilardino, Alvaro Company, Dusan Bogdanovic, Alessandro Solbiati, Giorgio Gaslini, Michele Tadini, Sofia
Gubaidulina and others. Among his teachers, Julius Kalmar (conduction), composers as Giovanni Guanti, Alessandro Solbiati,
and the harpsichord player Emilia Fadini (Baroque music). Doctorate in Philosophy with a dissertation on the musical
interpretation, hebpublished a book about this subject. He has been contributor to severalbspecialized magazines, like the
Italians “Giornale della Musica” “Seicorde” “il Fronimo”, the Spanish guitar magazine “Roseta”, “Soundboard” (USA) and
“Schweitzer Musikzeitung.” He worked in the Archive of the Andrés Segovia’s Foundation (Linares-Spain), to catalogue its
manuscripts (catalogue published on the Spanish musicological magazine “The Roseta”), and he discovered some unknown
manuscripts of important composers, such as Jaume Pahissa, Alexandre Tansman, Gaspar Cassadò and others, after published
by A. Gilardino in the Segovia Archive Collection (Berben Edition). He gave concerts in Europe, Australia, Argentina, USA,
India ecc. performing Italian music and chamber music; in 2011 he played around the world (New York, Wien, London,
Warsaw, Guitar Foundation of America, etc.) a new program on Paganini and Italian contemporary works, written specifically
for him, which have been published by the Sinfonica Editions in 2013 (a book and a CD). He recorded several CDs, from
Baroque music to Segovia Repertoire. In the 2007, the American magazine “Guitar Review” dedicated him an interview and a
CD with his recent recordings. After the cd dedicated to Scarlatti’s Sonatas (Brilliant, 2009), he recorded a double cd dedicated
to Bach music for lute, published by Brilliant Classics (2011). He recorded the complete works for guitar solo by Niccolò
Paganini, released by Brilliant Classics in 2013, on an original guitar from that period (a Gaetano Guadagnini, 1851).

In 2014 the Italian magazine Amadeus dedicated him the cover and published his CD on Fernando Sor Masterworks, another
time played on original instrument (Lacôte 1830). During these years he started to play with the violist Simone Gramaglia
(viola of the Quartetto di Cremona) and he published with him a new CD dedicated to Paganini music for guitar and viola
(Brilliant, 2015); in the same year, he dedicate a programme to Boccherini Quintets, playing with Quartetto di Cremona and
Cuarteto Casals (last concert at the prestigious Haydnsaal in Eisenstadt). In that year he realized another project—with the
support by the Ernst Von Siemens Foundation—dedicated to Hans Werner Henze music and his masterwork El Cimarrón. In
2016 he was the first performer of the Alessando Solbiati’s new work for guitar and 15 instruments, that he recorded last year.
In the same year he has released a new CD devoted to 19th century repertoire played on original instruments, using six different
historical guitars.

This year he worked to a project dedicated to Antonio Torres, and he is giving many concerts playing original guitars by Torres.
He is also the curator of the Exhibition dedicated to Torres by the Museo del Violino in Cremona (15of Sept. 2017-14th of
Jan.2018). After he published a new CD, A Spanish potrait, on an original Torres from 1888, very appreciate by the critics
and for which the Italian magazine Seicorde devoted him last issue. He teaches at State Conservatory of Castelfranco Veneto
(Italy). He is often invited as expert at the Geneva and Lausanne Conservatories, and from 2010, he is regularly invited to give

New soundscapes on the ’Ligeti guitar’: Bartók, Chopin, Kurtág and Mulvey
This lecture-recital explores a new world of guitar sonorities through novel arrangements; Chopin: Berceuse Op. 57, Saariaho:
Nocturne and Kurtág: Ligatura Y performed on a new instrument prototype, the ‘Ligeti Guitar’.

In collaboration with the Altamira Guitar Foundation, Hanson Yao and Oren Myers, the ‘Ligeti guitar’ was developed in
2021. The new prototype integrates an adjustable magnet capo system into a transformed fretboard. Koltai designed the
magnet capo system originally as a new set of partial capos (2018-2020), also presented in an article in Soundboard Scholar.
She demonstrated how Bartokian clusters and Ligeti’s pitch sets were translated into radical open-string sets by deploying
the adjustable capos. These innovative transcriptions led to further innovation, extending the magnet capo system into a
transformed guitar fretboard. The ‘Ligeti guitar’ radically opens the instrument’s idiomatic borders, hereby demonstrated in
three arrangements: Frédéric Chopin’s Berceuse (1844) is an improvisatory flow of variations on an ostinato ground bass. In this
guitar arrangement, the ground bass is translated into an open string set. Therefore the variations are independent in the left
hand, resulting in romantic and virtuoso passages in wide registers.

The third part of this talk explores Katalin Koltai’s very recent collaboration with György Kurtág. The collaboration started in
August 2021, when Katalin had the opportunity to work on her arrangements with Kurtág. The composer originally composed
the Ligatura Y for piano and later rearranged it for string trio. Koltai’s transcription has been in a fluid transformation
throughout the collaboration with the composer, to be demonstrated here.

The last piece of this lecture-recital is written especially for the Ligeti Guitar by Gráinne Mulvey. Katalin commissioned
Mulvey in 2020 and premiered her work at the London Guitar Festival in 2021. Soft morning city is a microtonal, partly
improvisation based piece, inspired by James Joyce’s Finnegans Wake. In the piece the atmospheric transformation of the early
morning rainy Dublin is reflected in the transformation of the guitar’s sonic landscape.

Biography

“From Botox to Brain Surgery” my 12 year struggle to overcome Focal Dystonia and ways you can avoid it.
This lecture will walk through my 12 year journey to overcome Focal Hand Dystonia in my right hand. I will outline how
one likely gets FD and some common ways to avoid it. I will then go through an overview of the different treatments I sought
from all over the world including Spain, Switzerland, UK,Canada,India and the US. These treatments included Sensory Motor
Retuning, Differential learning, Splinting, Physical Therapy, Acupuncture, Dry Needling, Neuro Reset training, Occupational
Therapy, Focused Ultrasound,Botox Injections and finally culminating with acceptance into a clinical trial at the National
Institutes of Health(NIH) in Bethesda Maryland. The clinical trial utilizes Deep Brain Stimulation Surgery(DBS) Performed
at the National Institutes of Health. At the NIH I was the third person accepted into the program and the very first Guitarist.
I will then outline what they have discovered about FD at the NIH and show videos of before and after of my right hand. I
will give an overview of the first two musicians treated and their results and then discuss what requirements are needed to be
accepted into the clinical trial. The lecture will also provide a brief overview of the 6 hour surgery, recovery and the details of
the follow up care of the trial. The trial lasts 5 years and I am in the first year of the trial with extremely encouraging results.
When I described the process to David Collett from GSI he called it “Space age” solutions. Lastly I will discuss the retraining
curriculum and guidance provided by my teacher Jack Sanders from L.A.

Beijing Duo
Praised by the distinguished Classical Guitar Magazine as “having the star potential to serve as inspiration for new generations
of guitarists to come,” the Beijing Guitar Duo made their New York debut in Carnegie Hall in 2010 and launched their
international concert career.

Guitarist Meng Su and Yameng Wang, the Beijing Guitar Duo has performed around the world in halls such as the
Concertgebouw, Palau de Musica, Tchaikovsky Hall and the National Theatre in Beijing. This season will take them to a 12-
city concert tour in the United States in February (Washington D.C., Cincinnati, Cleveland, Chicago, Detroit, Milwaukee,
Knoxville) as well as other performances in Europe and China. The duo regularly collaborates with orchestras, in ensemble with
flutist Marina Piccinini, guitarists Grigoryan Brothers and with their mentor Manuel Barrueco touring in Europe, Australia,
Asia and the U.S.

The Beijing Guitar Duo’s performances and recordings have impressed the public with “an ability and artistry that exceeds their
years.” Their debut CD Maracaípe, received a Latin-GRAMMY nomination for the titled piece, which was dedicated to them by
renowned guitarist/composer Sergio Assad. Their second CD, Bach to Tan Dun, has been widely noted for the world-premiere
recording of Tan Dun’s Eight Memories in Watercolor, specially arranged for the duo by Manuel Barrueco. A recording in trio,
China West, with Maestro Barrueco was released in May 2014.

Meng Su and Yameng Wang were born in the coastal city of Qingdao, China. They came to the partnership with exceptional
credentials, including a string of competition awards. Ms. Su’s honors include victories at the Vienna Youth Guitar
Competition and the Christopher Parkening Guitarist Competition, while Ms. Wang was the youngest guitarist to win the
Tokyo International Guitar Competition at the age of 12, and was invited by Radio France to perform at the prestigious
Paris International Guitar Art Week at age 14. Both young artists had given solo recitals in China and abroad, and had made
recordings before they formed the duo.

In addition to concertizing, the duo shares a love for teaching which brings them to major conservatories in the world for master
classes and to judge competitions. The duo served as Artists-in-residence from 2011-15 for the San Francisco Performances which
brought them to the Bay Area two weeks a year for community outreach, performances, and masterclasses in public schools as
well as for the SF Conservatory.

The guitar of Cesar Guerra-Peixe

Cesar Guerra-Peixe (1914-1993) was a unique Brazilian composer. He was a main figure of two antogonic movements
throughout his life: the Musica Viva, which intended to update Brazilian composers with modern composition techniques
(specially those presented on the famous 1950s-1960s Darmstad festivals), and the Armorial, which focused on creating
a sophisticated Brazilian art form undressed of any European element. His guitar works feature this duality, and we can
appreciate in his music the avant-gard and the rural music from the "sertao" (a slang for desertao, big desert). In addition, he
composed pieces that can be playied by begginers - some are as difficult as Brouwer's Estudios Sencillos - and also that demand
virtuosity. In all works, however, his intense use of combining open strings with chords in high positions to colour his chords
are a rare feature of idiomatism by a non-guitarist composer. This lecture intends to present some of his music for teachers
looking for material for his students and for guitarists seeking different repertoire. Brazil has 27 states, and "Brazilian Music"
featured in guitar concerts is, in fact, the music of one state only - Jobim, Villa-Lobos, Baden-Powell, are all from Rio de
Janeiro. Guerra-Peixe is one the masters who brilliantly wrote for the guitar who writes music inspired by a different region.
Along with slides, the lecture will feature some works playied live by the presenter.

Biography
Guitarist Alvaro Henrique considers music the language of emotion, and aims to help audiences to speak and understand better
this language. Henrique’s programs include a host of plucked instruments covering a fascinating range of history and cultures,
from Villa-Lobos, Scarlatti, Giuliani to transcriptions of Tchaikovsky and new works. As a soloist, Henrique has performed in
15 countries. Among the conductors he’s worked with are Julio Medaglia, Ville Mankkinen, and Angelo Cavallaro. With an
interest in social activism, Alvaro’s projects have included commissioning works centered on social issues, like Jorge Antunes’
Brasilia 50. Currently teaches at the Escola de Musica de Brasilia (Brazil), and works on his new album.

Their 2018 debut album on New Focus Recordings, Night Triptych, was the culmination of that effort and featured works
written for them by accomplished women composers. Night Triptych received universal praise from major critics, who
hailed it as an "astounding...goldmine of ideas and feelings" (Stereophile), a “marvelous recital” (Limelight Magazine),
“truly pathbreaking” (All Music), and “an important disc” (The Arts Fuse). The album has been featured in Chamber Music
Magazine and Classical Guitar Magazine, as well as on radio stations nationwide, including WQXR's New Sounds in NYC.

Michael Partington

An advocate of new music he has
commissioned and premiered works by Stephen Goss, Bryan Johanson, Toshio Hosokawa, Angelo Gilardino, Tom Baker, Kevin
Callahan and others.

Partington is currently Artist in Residence and director of the guitar program at the University of Washington in Seattle. He
has given classes and workshops at festivals and institutions around the world, including the Royal College of Music in London,
the Royal Conservatory in Gothenburg, Sweden, the San Francisco Conservatory, the Guitar Foundation of America, the
Canadian National Confederation of Music Societies, and the International Guitar Research Centre at the University of Surrey
in Guildford. His students have won prizes in regional, national and international competitions, and scholarships and awards to
study all over the world.

"There is much praise that one can offer to a performer such as Partington, but he is one of those artists who possess a magic
combination of a fluid technique with a wealth of musicianship. The refined manner of his sound, and his sense of phrase,
articulation and dynamic were all conveyed with extraordinary attention to detail."
Guy Traviss, Classical Guitar Magazine

"Nimble, mercurial, subtle, and emotionally engaging, Partington’s playing consistently beguiles the ear, whether he is probing
classics of the repertoire or brand-new pieces composed for him. He draws a spectacular array of effects and shades from his
instrument."
Melinda Bargreen, Seattle Times

"He presented a huge cross range of music played with a physical virtuosity that it’s a pleasure to watch as well
as listen to. Partington, for all his modesty, is a genius and I would encourage you to catch him while you can.
The audience were enchanted by this performance and by him too."

Eliot Fisk

Eliot Fisk began to study the guitar motivated by his brother Matthew, born with Down’s Syndrome. While the imagined family
singing sessions to a guitar accompaniment never turned into anything, the instrument slowly became the focus of his life.

Ten months spent in Sweden attending elementary school in1965-6 produced the necessary catalyst to learn Swedish fluently
and to begin to practice the guitar seriously. This passion burst into full flame when on his return to his native Philadelphia Eliot
began to study with the remarkable (and mostly self-taught) William Viola, whose love of the guitar was life long although his
musical activities were mostly limited to teaching on Saturdays in a guitar store in Philadelphia.

In 1974 Eliot met and began to study with his idol Segovia and at Yale University (1972-77) supplemented those encounters with
guidance from the great harpsichordist and scholar Ralph Kirkpatrick. Following his graduation from Yale summa cum laude
and a successful debut at Alice Tully Hall in New York in 1976, Eliot Fisk began a professional career that has taken him around
the world as soloist and chamber musician performing in leading concert halls on 5 continents.

Eliot has created an enormous amount of new music for the guitar through innumerable transcriptions and many new works in
all genres by eminent composers, written for and dedicated to him. His numerous recordings have achieved critical and public
acclaim.

He has enjoyed a long career as an educator particularly at the Universitaet “Mozarteum” in Salzburg, where he teaches in 5
languages, and at the New England Conservatory in Boston, where in 2006 he founded the highly successful Boston Guitar
Fest. Many of his students have become great leaders in the musical world and continue his efforts to combine the great romantic
tradition with the best of modernity.

Together with his wife, virtuoso guitarist Zaira Meneses, he recently founded the Eliot Fisk Guitar Academy (EFGA) which
aims to project his legacy of interdisciplinary musicianship and humanitarian aspiration around the world. More specifics at

Regondi a Romantic Virtuoso. Some remarks on Ten Studies for Guitar

The Ten Studies by Giulio Regondi (born two centuries ago) are probably the more advanced studies in the guitar repertoire of
19th century. In this lecture, it is proposed a reinterpretation of this work, to discover the features of Regondi’s technique and
the elaborated language of his writings. Starting from some biographical aspects, the lecture develops an analysis of the form
and the harmony, in comparison with the other works of most important guitarists-composers of 19th century, as well as with
the great models of the Romantic repertoire. The technical features will be examined to show the variety of the writings and to
better understand the virtuoso technique of that period. Each aspect of this technique (slurs, legato, left-hand changes etc.) will
be analyzed and taken as a model to develop their own technique. The lecture will be presented with practical examples on a 19th
century guitar.
Biography
Award-winning in several national and international competitions, among the others the “Concours International d’Exécution
Musicale (CIEM)” in Geneva (1995), Luigi Attademo began his studies in his village in South of Italy with Giuseppe Racioppi, and
continued under the guide of the guitarist-composer Angelo Gilardino. Among his teachers, Julius Kalmar (conduction), composers
as Giovanni Guanti, Alessandro Solbiati, and the harpsichord player Emilia Fadini (Baroque music). Doctorate in Philosophy with
a dissertation on musical interpretation, he published a book about this subject. He has been a contributor to several specialized
magazines. He worked in the Archive of the Andrés Segovia’s Foundation (Linares-Spain), to catalog its manuscripts (catalogue
published on the Spanish musicological magazine "The Roseta"), and he discovered there some unknown manuscripts of important
composers, such as Jaume Pahissa, Alexandre Tansman, Gaspar Cassadò and others, after published in the Segovia Archive
Collection by Berben Edition. He gave concerts in Europe, Australia, Argentina, USA, India and Korea as a soloist as well as in
chamber music. He recorded several CDs, from Baroque music to contemporary music, among the others, a double cd dedicated
to Bach music for lute (2011) and the complete works for guitar solo by Niccolò Paganini (2013), on an historical guitar by
Guadagnini (1851). In the 2007, the American magazine “Guitar Review” dedicated him to an interview and a CD with his recent
recordings. In 2014 the Italian magazine Amadeus dedicated him the cover and published his CD on Fernando Sor Masterworks,
played on an original French instrument (Lacôte, 1830). During these years he started to play with the violist Simone Gramaglia
(viola of the Quartetto di Cremona) and he published with him a new CD dedicated to Paganini music for guitar and viola
(Brilliant, 2015). In that year he completed another project - with the support of the Ernst Von Siemens Foundation - dedicated
to Hans Werner Henze music and his masterwork El Cimarrón. In 2016 he was the first performer of the Alessando Solbiati’s new
work for guitar and 15 instruments, that he recorded in 2018 . In the same year he released a new Cd devoted to 19th century
repertoire played on original instruments, using six different historical guitars. In 2017 he worked to a project dedicated to Antonio
Torres, and he is giving many concerts playing original guitars by Torres. He is also the curator of the Exhibition dedicated to
Torres by the Museo del Violino in Cremona. After he published a new CD, A Spanish portrait, performed on an original Torres
from 1888, very appreciated by the critics and for which the Italian magazine Seicorde devoted him the issue of October 2018. Last
two CDs, both published by Da Vinci classics, are dedicated to Scarlatti’s Sonatas and Astor Piazzolla centenary celebration. He
teaches at State Conservatory of Cesena (Italy). He was invited as an expert at the Geneva and Lausanne Conservatories, and from
2010, he was regularly invited to give lectures/recitals at Royal Academy of Music of London. He has also been a juror in many
international competitions (Pittaluga Competition, Mottola, GFA…).
