Overview
Optimism and a sense of occasion were felt throughout the show, with trading
numbers bouncing back and footwear re ecting the desire to get back out and
socialise.

Branded as # RestartTogether, MICAM S/S 22 hosted three shows in one alongside

Mipel and The One Milano to attract more visitors and create a sense of
community in the footwear and accessories market.
The results showed a strong rebound; over the three-day period, 22,274 trade
visitors were able to browse and trade products offered by the 735 companies
exhibiting at the events.
“This edition marks our renaissance,” stated Siro Badon, chair of Assocalzaturifici and
MICAM Milano, who shared positive growth patterns within the market; since 2020,
industrial production has grown by 13% and turnover 22%. Across Italy, household
spend increased by 17.4% and exports increased by 31.5% in value – quite the
bounce-back from Europeʼs Covid-19 beginnings.
There was an evident desire to experiment, with many brands focusing on new
silhouettes and joyous colour palettes. Occasion styles were key, making the case
for going out a er seasons of comfort-first silhouettes dominating the mix.

1
Pretty pastels
Pastel hues are the commercial go-to for S/S
collections.

A S/S perennial, pastels were the strongest

colourway across the MICAM collections
As called out in our Colour Forecast, pastels
are less sweet and more powdered in tone,
creating a reassuring, restorative mood that
will work just as well for homewear
silhouettes as it will for occasion styles

Buttered neutrals
Creamy neutrals inform a transitional
palette that will carry the customer
between seasons.

While deep shades of brown and terracotta

dominated last year's S/S assortments, 2022
sees a pared-back approach. Fashion-
favourite # butter informs a neutral look, as
called out in our Colour Forecast
