Is a 2017 American urban fantasy action film, the film stars Will Smith in the role of a
Los Angeles Police Department police officer who teams up with a rookie police
officer from the Orc clan in a world in which human and mythical creatures coexist in
parallel. In an alternate present where humans and fantastic creatures have
coexisted since the beginning of time. In this universe reminiscent of the one
conceived by J.R.R. Tolkien three intelligent humanoid species coexist in a stratified
society: the elves who are at the top as the ruling class, the orcs in the lowest social
stratum and generally associated with marginality, and the humans who are from the
lower to the middle class. . Los Angeles Police human officer Daryl Ward (Will Smith) returns to duty after recovering from a gunshot
wound by a criminal in the company of rookie officer Nick Jakoby (Joel Edgerton). The latter is the first orc to be a police officer,
being disowned by his own kind and by the rest of the department's police officers who are only human. With tensions between
them due to the incident in which Daryl almost lost his life, both police officers embark on a night of routine patrol in which they
discover a rare object: a magic wand, which was supposed to have been destroyed along with others and contained a great power
coveted by both humans and renegade elves. Among the latter are the followers of a dark cult that could alter the world they know
forever. One night, Ward and Jakoby respond to a disturbance at what turns out to be a safe house for the "Shield of Light", an
extremist group that prophesies the return of the "Dark Lord", a semi-mythical figure thousands of years old. He ago was defeated
by a combined army of eight races (the orcs supported him and were defeated with him). Inside, Ward and Jakoby apprehend the
sole survivor, an elf named Tikka in possession of a wand. Ward calls for backup but, by the time the four arriving officers see the
wand, they try to force Ward to kill Jakoby and let them steal the wand, reminding Ward that Jakoby has already betrayed him by
letting the thief escape. Ward comes out and demands the truth about the thief. Jakoby explains that the first orc got away from him
and Jakoby mistakenly stopped a second, younger one (realizing from his scent that it wasn't Ward's shooter), then helped him
escape the arriving backup officers, knowing that they would probably shoot the boy. on the spot no questions asked. As the four
officers appear behind Ward, planning to kill him and Jakoby, Ward turns and shoots them before they can return fire. The shooting
draws the attention of the local Hispanic gang, whose wheelchair-bound leader Poison has seen the wand and believes she can allow
him to walk again. Meanwhile, rumors of the wand attract both its owner,
Leilah, the leader of the radical elven sect called Inferni, and Kandomere, an elf
FBI agent assigned to the federal "Magic Task Force". The trio flee through the
territory of the Fogtooth Orc clan, interrupting their monthly rave. The
gangsters corner the trio at a strip club, but are killed by Leilah and her two
enforcers on her, allowing the trio to escape again. At a gas station, Ward contacts
his friend, Sheriff's Deputy Rodriguez, whom he knows he can trust. Rodriguez
contacts Kandomere and his human partner Hildebrandt Ulysses Montehugh, but
their conversation is intercepted by Leilah, who attacks the gas station, killing
Rodriguez. Escaping again, the trio are captured by the Fogtooth Orcs whose
leader Dorghu also wants the wand. Dorghu orders his son Mikey to kill Jakoby, but Mikey reveals that he was the orc Jakoby
allowed to escape and thus refuses to kill him. Dorghu sends his son and kills Jakoby himself. But as she prepares to kill Ward, Tikka
pulls out her wand and uses it to resurrect Jakoby, revealing that she is a Shining One. The mist-toothed shaman declares that this is
part of a prophecy, causing the clan to kneel before Jakoby and allow the trio to break free. Tikka, now trusting them, reveals that
she speaks English and explains that the Inferni believe that assembling three wands will allow them to resurrect the Dark Lord. She
was a member of the Inferni but fled from the group and was protected by the Shield of Light. Leilah lent her wand to an assassin
from Bright and sent her to kill Tikka, but Tikka escaped her with the wand. Using the wand to resurrect Jakoby has made Tikka
seriously ill and the only place she can be cured is a magical pool in the safe house. They go back there, but Leilah and sYour two
guards ambush them. In the confrontation, Leilah's guards are killed, but Leilah holds Tikka defenseless while Ward and Jakoby run
out of ammunition. Ward deliberately grabs the wand, believing the resulting explosion will kill them all. To everyone's surprise,
Ward survives wielding the wand, revealing that he too is a Shining One. With a spell word from Tikka, Ward destroys Leilah, causing
an explosion that sets the building on fire. Tikka disappears and an injured Ward and Jakoby try to escape the building. Finding
himself outside alone, Jakoby rushes back to Hell and rescues Ward as the fire department and ambulance arrive. Dorghu and his
clan appear and perform an ancient orc ceremony signifying to Jakoby that he is now "blood", an orc status that can only be
achieved through an act of great bravery. As he and Ward are rushed to the hospital, federal agents arrive to take possession of
Leilah's wand. At the hospital, Ward and Jakoby give Kandomere and Montehugh a doctored statement of the previous night's
events, understanding that the federal agents want the wand's existence and any hints of magical activity kept secret. In a public
ceremony, Jakoby and Ward are honored for their courageous stand against "armed terrorists" though both are upset that the
corrupt cops are being honored posthumously along with them and Rodriguez. Ward smiles as he sees Tikka moving through the
costumed crowd
