VERB “TO BE” Significa SER o ESTAR


Se divide en 3:
AM IS ARE
I She He It You They We

• To be es uno de los verbos auxiliares en inglés junto con do, have, will, etc.
• To be sirve para dar información sobre el sujeto (edad, nombre, estado de ánimo,
personalidad) “ I am a student/28 years old/ fine/ Gabriela/responsible)
• To be se usa de auxiliar en tiempos verbales, por ejemplo: Presente/Pasado continuo
(present/past continuous) “I am learning” (Presente Continuo)
Lets’s see the types of sentences…

❖ Full sería la oración formal, cómo se la escribe formalmente en un comunicado, en cartas,


ensayos.
Example: She is a student/ They are students (full form)
❖ Short sería una escritura informal, mayormente entre amigos, en mails, mensajes de
whatsapp, etc.
Example: She’s a student/ They’re students (contracted form)
❖ Para responder una pregunta se utiliza el verbo con la que comienza la pregunta en la
mayoría de los casos
Example: IS she a doctor? YES, SHE IS // NO, SHE ISN’T

Subject + verb TO BE + Complement

NEGATIVE SENTENCE
Subject + verb TO BE + NOT + Complement
SHE IS NOT A TECHNICIAN
INTERROGATIVE SENTENCE
