School Learning Action Cell Session on

Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC)

Another meaningful Learning Action Cell was accomplished by the teachers of


Pinagkuartelan Elementary School as they have successfully conducted the SLAC on
Violence against Women and Children (VAWC) on May 26, 2022.

The SLAC session was started by the singing of the National Anthem conducted
by Mrs. Ma. Louriza Lumidao, a Grade 4 teacher and a prayer led by Ms. Syraleen
Valenzuela, Grade 1 Teacher. It was followed by an opening remarks given by Dr. Ana
Sonia R. Nolasco. She also gave an overview on the provision of the Republic Act No.
9262 or the Ant-Violence Against Women and their Children. She let everyone knew
about the things that each women and children experienced at home when it comes to
abuse and violence.

The Republic Act No. 9262 was discussed by Ms. Dianne M. Musni, kinder
teacher. She reminded that all the teachers should practice and consider gender
responsive in class environments to connect the learners and the content in meaningful,
respectful and effective ways. She also added that a responsive teacher designs and
manages a learning environment that encourages positive relationships and collaboration,
fosters risk taking and independence, build shared responsibility for learning and
celebrates successes.

Ms. Divina S. Arena, Kinder teacher discussed the acts of Violence Against
Women and Their Children. It tackled the five main components; to assess the degree of
violence or when violence occur, . as a result of an intervention and to ensure that
women’s voices are prominent throughout the evaluation. She added that this assessment
incorporates gender equality and women’s rights dimensions.
