ACTIVITY REFLECTION

1. Laporan bertulis
Written report

Hasil daripada program/aktiviti harus dijelaskan dalam refleksi ini. Pelajar diharapkan dapat berkongsi
hasil pelaksanaan program/aktiviti kesukarelawanan pada minggu 14 dalam laporan bertulis bersama-
sama dengan log video atau gambar (jika ada). Pelajar juga adalah diharapkan untuk berfikir tentang
hasil, kemahiran yang diperoleh dan sumbangan/kesan/aplikasi dari program/aktiviti yang telah
dilaksanakan.
The outcome of the programs/activities should be described in this reflection. Students are expected to
share the result of the completed volunteerism program/activity in week 14 in a written report with video log
or pictures (if any). Students are also expected to reflect the outcome, skills acquired and the significant
contribution/impact/possible application from the completed activities/programs.

The report of the programs/activities includes:

As the centre primarily focuses on teaching and educating the youth generation regarding
STEMs in many creative methods, Petrosains is one of the hotspots for either parents, instructors,
or any organisations to take their child and pupils. Its aim to be a global player that inspires people
and enhances lives through the delivery of immersive and imaginative experiences is aligned with its
objective to be a worldwide player that does both via the delivery of customer-centric experiences
and meaningful learning. Petrosains Sdn Bhd wants to build an eco-system based on future-focused
education and lifelong learning, and The Discovery Centre is simply one component of that effort.
The PETRONAS Twin Towers, Petrosains PlaySmart satellite learning facilities, and the PETRONAS
StreetSmart travelling exhibit are other significant features.
This activity was conducted with the aim of improving myself and gain many skills throughout
the volunteering hours. For an instance, I have the aim to adapt the shared values of Petronas which
are Loyalty, Integrity, Professionalism and Cohesiveness as this will help me build the sense of duty
in each activity I have done. Furthermore, I chose to volunteer at Petrosains as it would also improves
my communication skills and interactions skills upon approaching strangers that comes from various

backgrounds. Finally, by conducting this project, I can give good impact to the public and give them
a better insight on the importance of STEM education in oneself.

(a) Kekuatan (Strengths)
Ensuring good impact to the public especially children upon the fun of learning and gaining
knowledge in STEM education. This is because, I can conduct many fun and exciting ways of
explaining to the visitors on the importance of each exhibition I have assisted.

(b) Kelemahan (Weaknesses)


The limited exhibitions provided by the Petrosains creative teams might cause the visitors to
consider Petrosains as an attraction to have leisure time instead of a learning centre to spend
time engaging and understanding many STEM educational exhibitions.

(c) Batasan dan cabaran (Limitation and challenges)


i) Time constraint
As a full-time student, it was hard to make agreement with the volunteering
department from Petrosains over the perfect time to complete the volunteering
hours as bot the team and me have our own schedule and timing.

ii) Financial
Since Petrosains is in KLCC, the amount of money spent throughout the
volunteering hours is considered a lot as someone who only rely on students’ loan
and allowance from their parents. The transportations fare and money spent in
buying necessity has caused me to spend a big sum of money throughout
completing the project.

iii) Communication Barriers


Dealing with a big crowd each day consume so many energies thus causing me to
sometimes look tired and not approachable. Having a big crowd too cause me
unable to cater each visitors’ questions fairly as some will get a lengthy explanation
while some only get a simplified explanation.

Assisting and helping many visitors (showing them ways to go somewhere, answering all the
questions they have upon the exhibition they are exploring, etc,) each day I complete the
volunteering hours. Besides that, I was able to give good impressions to each visitor upon their
visiting hours in Petrosains by always smiling and following the etiquettes of assisting visitors.

Giving a better insight to the public especially children on how fun it is to gain more knowledge
upon things that involves STEM education. This will lead them to curiosity in getting more and
more knowledge in STEM. Apart from them, by including myself in the volunteering team of
Petrosains, indirectly I have helped them reduce the workload of assisting visitors and handling the
exhibition before and after visiting hours.
