(NAME OF COMMUNICABLE DISEASE)

(Cause) (Signs, Symptoms and Effects)

CONCEPT NOTES:
Tuberculosis (TB) is contagious. is a disease caused by bacteria called Mycobacterium
tuberculosis. The bacteria usually attack the lungs, but they can also damage other parts of the
body. Signs and Symptoms includes:
 Chest pain, or pain with breathing and cough
 A fever higher in the afternoon
 Sweating excessively at night
 Night Chills
 Tiredness that get worse as the day goes on
 Weight loss
 Loss of appetite
 Coughing that last three or more weeks with bloody sputum after a few days
Pneumonia refers to an infection in the lungs caused by certain germs, such as bacteria or
viruses. When one person spreads germs that can cause pneumonia to someone else, the
recipient can develop a range of respiratory infections, from mild cold symptoms to pneumonia.
Signs and symptoms are the following:
 Sweating
 Chest pain
 Tiredness
 Shortness of breath
 Cough
 Increased heart rate
 Rapid breathing
 Chills
 Nausea, vomiting or diarrhea
 Confusion or mental Changes in elderly patients
Influenza is contagious. The flu is an infection of the respiratory tract (nose, throat, and lungs). It's
caused by a virus that spreads easily from person to person. The common signs and symptoms
are fever, headache, runny nose, sore throat, cough, or other respiratory manifestation.
Dengue Fever. Is acute viral infections that affect infants, young children, and adults. You can't
get dengue fever from being around an infected person. Instead, dengue fever is spread through
mosquito bites. Signs and symptoms are onset of high fever which may last from 2 to 7 days Joint
and muscle pain and pain behind the eyes, weakness, skin rashes, nose bleeding when fever
starts to subside, abdominal pain, vomiting of coffee-colored matter.
COVID-19. Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2
virus. The virus can spread from an infected person’s mouth or nose in small liquid particles when
they cough, sneeze, speak, sing or breathe. These particles range from larger respiratory droplets
to smaller aerosols. COVID-19 affects different people in different ways. Most infected people will
develop mild to moderate illness and recover without hospitalization. Most common symptoms:
Fever, cough, tiredness, loss of taste or smell.
ATHLETE’S FOOT
is contagious. It is a fungal infection that usually begins between the toes. It’s called athlete’s foot
because athletes who are in and out of locker rooms and showers are at a particularly high risk of
developing this infection. Athlete's foot usually causes redness, flakiness, peeling, or cracking of
the skin on the feet. It may itch, sting, or burn, or simply feel uncomfortable. It's usually on the
soles of the feet, the areas between the toes, and sometimes the toenails.
Common warts are caused by an infection with certain types of human papillomavirus (HPV) – an
umbrella term for a large group of viruses causing different conditions.
HPV is contagious and is passed on through direct skin-to-skin contact or indirect contact with
objects or surfaces. Symptoms and signs of warts include rough, small growths or bumps that may
be rough to the touch. Warts are small, fleshy white, tan, or pink bumps that may appear grainy or
contain sprinkles of black pinpoint areas.

ACTIVITY B
Directions: Choose one communicable disease and make an awareness poster on the
importance of understanding the signs, symptoms and effects of communicable disease.

ACTIVITY C

Directions: Make a short song on the awareness of a particular communicable disease.
