1. Introduction
MODEL GP-200V is a battery-operated portable gas analyzer. It has
been especially designed for analyzing the processes gas Hydrogen. It
gives the concentration as of Hydrogen in %V/V.

Warm up time is 5 minutes

Being a state-of-art microcontroller based instrument, MODEL GP-200V

has in-built intelligence that makes it very easy to use and operate.
Calibration of instrument Zero is achieved with fresh air by opening the
instrument with the help of potentiometer. For span calibration span gas
is required. It also provides an interactive user machine interface which
includes user prompts.

MODEL GP-200V also has in-built battery condition monitoring

function, which gives advance warning of the impending battery-run
down condition. It also includes provision for interfacing with a battery
charger.

2. Principle of Operation
The analyzer is based on a transducer whose signal increases with
hydrogen concentration. The instrument includes flow meter for fixed
flow.

5. Description of various parts and controls

5.1. Display:

It is an 8 Character x 1 line Alphanumeric LCD display which serves as the

readout for the measurements. The default display shows Hydrogen
concentration in % v/v,. It also serves as the visual display terminal for
operator interface for configuring various settings and parameters of the
instrument.

5.2. Key: On/off Switch

It is a slide switch, which turns On the power to the instrument. It is a slide

switch.

5.3. Key “FN”

This key is a push type key switch, which facilitates selection and carrying
out various functions of the instrument. Successive presses of the key select
the next function from a circular list of functions.

5.4. Key “EN ”

This key has functions to enter the data as well as increment key during
setting.

6. Some features of the display and control

6.1. The key switches provide tactile feedback.

6.2. In order to guard against inadvertent pressing of a key, key press is

accepted only if the same has been kept pressed for a definite time.

6.3. Acceptance of any key press for carrying out the subject function is
accompanied by an audio feed back in the form of a beep.

6.4. POWER ON Self Test

Every time the instrument is switched, it carries out Power On Self
Test (Post), where in it checks for the proper operation of its various
measuring circuits and display and control subsystems. When POST
is in progress, the display shows “Endee” 10 times. It is followed by
displaying of Model number of the instrument, again 10 times. Each
display of “Endee” and Model number is accompanied by an audible
beep.

The instrument is not ready for use for measurements until the POST
has been completed. When the POST is completed successfully and
no malfunctions or faults are observed, the instrument is ready for use
to carry out the measurements. This is indicated by “hydrogen nn.n”
on the display. Here “nn.n” is the instantaneous value of hydrogen
concentration.

6.5. The battery condition is continuously monitored. At any time during

the operation, if battery voltage falls below a set limit, the display will
show “LOWBATT.
In this condition, it is advisable to immediately charge the battery
with proper charger supplied. If the instrument is continued to be
used under “LOWBATT” condition, there is no guarantee that the
measurements will be reliable. If the battery is continued to be
used and drained beyond certain specified limits of the
manufacturer, and if an attempt is made to charge the battery in
this condition, the battery would be permanently damage with
consequences.

7. How to operate
7.1. Preparation of the Instrument:

Before putting the instrument in use, please ensure that batteries are fully
charged.

7.2. Using the Instrument:

After preparing the instrument as described in 1 above, switch the

instrument on by sliding on/off switch.

Wait for the instrument to complete the POST described in previous chapter.
If the default factory settings are acceptable, the instrument can be directly
used for actual measurements.

When the instrument is carrying out measurements, it is said to be in

“Measuring mode”.

When the function key is pressed, it goes into function mode. In case, the
settings need to be changed, use the Key “EN” in conjunction with the Key
‘FN” key to select the desired function by successively pressing the key till
the desired function is displayed on LCD display.

In the following section, the number of key presses mentioned will be

referred from measuring mode.
