1. Surface culture is the visible things that you see in regard to a culture, food, art, clothes, music,
holidays. Deep culture is part of what makes you, you, it is the way we view the world, and it is
engrained from birth. An example of surface culture would be the food we eat at thanksgiving
some people eat ham some people eat turkey if your family decided one year to have ham
instead of turkey it wouldn’t be the end of the world. An example of deep culture would be the
way you view marriage.
2. A Systemic factor that contributes to the sociopolitical context would be a store telling its
employees to watch Black shoppers more closely.

1. When you experience a threatening event your amygdala senses the threat and starts the
alarms needed to start a response. In a threatening event your brain is running on high
emotions. In a classroom setting a student having an emotional stress response it is important to
realize that they are running on emotions, and they are not thinking logically so if they have an
outburst, it may not be of their own fault.
