PART I

PREGUNTANDO Y DICIENDO LA HORA

* Al preguntar la hora en Inglés, se utiliza la pregunta de

información “What time is it?”. Para responder, se inicia la
oración con la frase “It’s” seguida por la hora señalada. Observa
las diferentes formas de decir la hora en los ejemplos de abajo.

Sugerencias con “LET’S...”

* La frase “Let’s...” se utiliza para hacer sugerencias y se traduce como

“Vamos a...”. Esta frase debe ir seguida por un verbo en forma infinitiva sin
la preposición “to”, y luego por un complemento. Ejemplos:

Let’s go to a movie.

That’s a good idea. That’s too expensive.

Let’s stay home.

 La oración de la izquierda se utiliza para aceptar sugerencias y las

de la columna derecha se utilizan para rechazar sugerencias. A
continuación se presentan otras formas de hacer y rechazar
sugerencias:

MANDATOS

* Para dar una orden o mandato, se debe iniciar la oración con un verbo en
forma infinitiva, es decir, el verbo se utiliza en su forma original, el cual va
seguido de un complemento el cual puede ser un pronombre objetivo, un verbo
precedido por la preposición “to” o un adverbio. Observa los ejemplos:

Call Nick and invite him.

Be here at 7 o’clock.

 Las ordenes o mandatos pueden ser negados solamente agregando el

auxiliar del presente simple Don’t antes del verbo. Ejemplos:

DON’T be late.
DON’T forget to call Nick.

* Observa cómo los nombres de personas Pueden ser sustituidos por

pronombres objetivos referidos a una tercera persona.

Invite Nick. = Invite HIM. (Invítalo).

Invite Kate. = Invite HER. (Invítala).
