TECHNICAL Information
This Technical Drafting Symbols is intended as a guide for Students of Building
Technology Course as well as Guideline in creating Technical Drawing for Individual
student’s assignment.
We have highlighted all the Architectural Drafting Symbols that students should check
before submitting your individual assignment.
The following notes correspond to the all Architectural information of the technical
drawing.

1 Complete Plan
Plan should show the completed ground plan building as it will stand within the
context of the entire of building that elevated to the ground and upper ground. In
Drawing plan, you should show all structure member and non structural
member that are cutted 1 meter from the ground. Any structure member that set
above 1 m, don't need to be drawn except in dotted line in some particular case.
You should draw all drafting symbols that usually set in drawing plan such as :

1. Number and title of every single room with floor level information,
2. Wall (solid or partition),
3. Doors and windows drafting symbols,
4. Section symbols,
5. Elevation symbols,
6. Column reference symbols,
7. Floor pattern plan, roof plan (in dotted line only)
8. Drawing reference number - including a unique reference number
for each drawing will enable user/ third party to properly identify each drawing in
decision notice.
9. Revision number - please state the current revision number of each drawing,
this will enable us to keep track of any version changes

2 Good Section
Section drawing should made according to the section symbols in Plan
drawing. Section drawing is slice of building that show inner situation including
wall, floor, door and windows ‘s position, ceiling, etc, inside the building.
Section drawing should be equipped with measure and leveling information. No
rendering, shadow, scale comparing element needed.
BUILDING TECHNOLOGY

3 Correct Elevations
Elevations should show the completed project as it will stand within the context
of the entire building. You should show all four faces as they will appear when
built.
Elevation drawing should include all those facade that are being proposed.
Drawings should be made to an appropriate scale, one which allows all the
necessary detail of the building to be seen clearly.
Each elevation should be correctly labeled as either A (north), B (east), C(south)
and D (west). Don't labeled elevation drawing as front/rear drawing, etc.
This will enable reader to keep track of which drawing they are looking at in
the context of the whole site and this is very important to check the correct
and the acuracy of material’s size to the building’s size and the impact on
1 the appearance of the building’s facade.

4 Copyright notice
It is important to remember that all drawings and documents as part of a
planning document can become public documents in a real project.
Student have to learn to create your own copyright notice. Adding a copyright
notice will help to protect your intellectual property rights to this drawing.

5
Scale bar or metric measurements
Every drawing should include a scale bar or metric measurements.
This very important so that the drawing can be easier to be understood.
The other reason for this is to give understanding that sometime the drawing
easy to become distorted when it publish in various media. The presence of a
known length on the page enables the viewer either to verify the drawing that
has been drawn to the correct size or calibrate a measuring tool to match the
scale of the drawing.
For elevation drawings please annotate both the:
• height to eaves; and
• ridge height
from ground level of any proposed roof.
A scale bar should be provided for each scale used on the page.
• Scale - you should indicate which scales you have used on the plan.
This will ensure third party when they read the drawing document and if the
want redraw the drawing out at the correct size if required.

Tittle block and Project details

6
Each drawing should include the following basic information on the title
block:

Logo of Binus University
A title of Building Technology Course
A title of the project
• The title of drawing
• The name and registration number of the student
• Page in every single paper BUILDING TECHNOLOGY

7
Materials
It is a good idea to list the materials on your drawings.
You should not identify the manufacturer of the product but you need to
identify the material name and its construction system.

8
Annotation of features
It is helpful to annotate material or size or any features to make it clearer or
where it is not obvious what they are.
Features such as , boundary spaces (walls with doors and windows,
partition, etc), roofing materials, hard surfaces, building services should all
be annotated.
