1. Preliminary Interview
(Cerbito as narrator) : Preliminary interview is a very general and basic interview conducted to
eliminate the candidates who are completely unfit to work in the organization.
(Ms. Dorado, De Guzman & Loseo) : Good morning Mr. Frades and Ms. Armenio.
*Ms. Dorado di nag thankyou kaya medj di maganda first impression sa kanya.*
(Ms. Dorado) : Ahm... I'm Shiela Marie Dorado. I live in Barangka Marikina City. I'm 19 years old
and —
(Ms. Armenio) : Ok. That's enough. How 'bout you Ms. De Guzman?
(Ms. De Guzman) : Good Day Ms/Mr. I'm Danica Neri De Guzman. I graduated from UP Diliman
with flying colors and I'm currently up for challenges.
(Ms. Loseo) : I'm Sophia Loseo. I have been working as a receptionist for over 3 years. I am
passionate about learning new things.

communication skills.
(Ms. Quinain) : I have completed a number of training courses and I am eager to make full use
of that here if possible.

2. Receiving Applications
(Minlay as a narrator) : The application gives the interviewers information about the candidates
like their bio-data, work experience, hobbies and interests.
(Mr Frades) : For Ms. Dorado, Ms. De Guzman, and Ms. Loseo you may pass it to me. And for
candidates 4,5 and 6, you may pass it to Ms. Armenio. Thank you!

3. Screening of Application
(Cerbito as a narrator) : Once the applications are received, they are screened by a special
screening committee who choose candidates from the applications to call for an interview.
Applicants may be selected on a special criteria like qualifications, work experience etc.
*Ms. Armenio shakes her head in disappointment while reading the CV’s
"tsk tsk tsk" "wow!" "so much potential"
*All the candidates received an email or call by an HR representative except Ms. Dorado*
*Ms. Dorado has been eliminated from the selection process*

4. Employment Test
(Minlay as narrator) : Before an organization decides a suitable job for any individual, they have
to gauge their talents and skills. This is done through various employment tests like intelligence
tests, aptitude tests, proficiency tests, personality tests etc.
*(De Guzman, Loseo, Baldesco, Quinain, and Reduban) 5 out 6 candidates were back to
the company to take the Employment Test*
(Ms. Armenio): For Ms. De Guzman, Ms. Loseo, and Ms. Reduban, please proceed to Room 1.
Mr. Frades is the one who will facilitate the Intelligence test.
(Ms. Armenio): For Ms. Quinain and Mr. Baldesco, please proceed to Room 2. I will be the one
who will facilitate the Personality Test*
*Ms. De Guzman, Ms. Loseo and Ms. Reduban entered the room*

(Mr. Frades) : Good afternoon Ms. De Guzman, what language do you speak?
(Mr. Frades) : Amazing, thank you. You may now leave the room and wait for our email to
confirm if you are eligible for the next process.
(Mr. Frades) : Good afternoon Ms. Reduban, what language do you speak?
(Mr. Frades) : Okay, thank you for your time. You may now leave the room and wait for our email
to confirm if you are eligible for the next process.
(Mr. Frades) : Good afternoon Ms. Loseo, what language do you speak?
(Ms. Loseo) : I can speak English fluently as well as Korean and Japanese.
(Mr. Frades) : Really? Can you introduce yourself in the language that you've mentioned?
(Mr. Frades) : Nice! Thank you for your time. You may now leave the room and wait for our
email to confirm if you are eligible for the next process.
(Ms. Armenio) : Good day, Mr. Baldesco! Here’s my question for you. What will you do if your
customer complains about your service?
(Mr. Baldesco) : The first thing that I will do is I will talk calmly to my customer. I will ask what’s
wrong with my service, and how I can address his/her problem.
(Ms. Armenio) : How can you ensure that you can solve the problem?
(Mr. Baldesco): I will seek some help with my co-workers. We will do our best to address the
problem by giving them their needs. We will make sure that they are comfortable enough.
(Ms. Armenio) : Nice answer. Thank you. You may now leave the room and wait for our email to
confirm if you are eligible for the next process.
(Ms. Armenio) : Good day, Ms. Quinain! Here's my question for you. What will you do if your
customer complains about your service?
(Ms. Quinain) : First, I will apologize for making them uncomfortable. I will be kind to them and I
will listen to their concerns. I will take action immediately.
(Ms. Armenio) : How can you ensure that you can solve the problem?
(Ms. Quinain) : I will assess the problem and offer a solution as soon as possible.
(Ms. Armenio) : Good answer. Thank you. You may now leave the room and wait for our email

5. Employment Interview
(Cerbito as narrator): Employment interviews are done to identify a candidate’s skill set and
ability to work in an organization in detail. Purpose of an employment interview is to find out the
suitability of the candidate and to give him an idea about the work profile and what is expected
of the potential employee.
(Ms. Armenio) : Welcome back, applicants! Now that we are on the 5th step, we will have the
Job Interview.
(Ms. Armenio): For candidates 1 and 2, please go to room 3. And for candidates 3 and 4,
please go to room 5. Thank you!
(Mr. Frades) : Good afternoon Ms. Loseo! What skills and strengths can you bring to this
position?
(Ms. Loseo) : Good afternoon, Since I've been working as a receptionist for the past 3 years.
I'm confident that I have the skills, strengths and experience in this field.
(Mr. Frades) : Excellent!. Thank you. You may now leave the room and wait for our email to
confirm if you are still part for the next process.
(Mr. Frades) : Good afternoon Mr. Baldesco! Here's my question, what skills and strengths can
you bring to this position?
(Mr. Baldesco) : I don't have any experience in this field because I'm a fresh graduate, but I am
confident that I can do well in this position.
(Mr. Frades) : Nice!. Thank you. You may now leave the room and wait for our email to confirm
if you are still part for the next process.
(Ms. Armenio) : How would your co-workers describe you from the last company you entered?
(Ms. Armenio): Okay, nice. I hope that you are consistent with that. You may leave this room.

(Ms. Quinain): They describe me as a participative leader who applies a friendship factor within
a group because I always treat them to restaurants. Every week we always eat and drink
outside.

6. Checking References
(Minlay as narrator) : The person who gives the reference of a potential employee is also a very
important source of information.
*Mr. Frades is checking the CV's from the remaining candidates. They want to know if the
information in the CV's are legit.*
(Mr. Frades) : Good morning! I'm Mark Frades, HR Manager from MD Hotel. Is this the registrar
office of UP Diliman?
(Mr. Frades) : I would like to confirm if Ms. Danica Neri De Guzman graduated from this school?
(Mr. Baldesco) : Wait for a moment sir, I will check it from our student's list.
(Mr. Baldesco) : I'm sorry sir, but we don't have Danica Neri De Guzman from our student's list.
*End of call*
(Mr. Frades): Good morning! I'm Mr. Frades, HR Manager from MD Hotel. Is this the office of
AM Hotel?
(Mr. Baldesco): Yes, I’m the secretary of the manager here in AM Hotel. How may I help you?
(Mr. Frades): I would like to confirm if Ms. Loseo is a former employee of your company?
(Mr. Baldesco): Yes, she worked at this company for the past 3 years. She’s an expert
employee here because of her excellent services.
(Mr. Frades): Noted. Thank you for your time and effort, Ma’am.

*Based upon checking references, the HR manager observed that Ms. De Guzman lied
about the educational background in her CV. Therefore, they decided to eliminate Ms. De
Guzman.*
*Ms. Loseo is the one who successfully passed 6 steps the selection process*

7. Medical Examination
(Cerbito as narrator) : Medical exams help the employers know if any of the potential candidates
are physically and mentally fit to perform their duties in their jobs. A good system of medical
checkups ensures that the employee standards of health are higher and there are fewer cases
of absenteeism, accidents and employee turnover.
*Now that Ms. Loseo passed all the interviews made during the selection process, she is
required to take and submit a medical examination.*
*Ms. Loseo passes the medical examination to the HR Manager, and waits for the
announcement of the Orientation day.*

8. Final Selection
(Minlay as narrator) : After the candidate has successfully passed all the tests, interviews, and
medical examinations. The employee is emailed an appointment letter confirming the selection
to this position.
*Ms. Loseo received an email confirming her position in the MD Hotel, the email also said
that they will conduct an orientation after 1 week.*
(Mr. Frades): Good morning, Ms. Loseo! Welcome to the Orientation. We are pleased that you
passed all the interviews, tests, and medical examinations. Now, as an HR manager, I will
discuss to you the Salary with Graduated Commission based on sales above quota.
Loseo will be paid a basic salary of P18,000/month plus commission on all sales above
her quota of P40,000.00 a month according to the following schedule:
1% on the first P30,000
2% on the next P40,000
3% on sales above quota exceeding the foregoing P70,000.
If Loceo sells a total of P250,000 for the month, how much would be her gross earnings?
SOLUTION:
Total sales 250,000
Less quota - 40,000
210,000 (sales subject to commission)
First (30,000 x 1%) 300
Next (40,000 x 2%) 800
Balance:
(210,000 - 70,000) = 140,000
140,000 x 3% = 4,200
Total Commission= 5,300
Add to basic salary= 18,000 + 5,300 = 23,300
Gross earnings= P23,300
(Ms. Loseo): Ohhh… Thank you, sir. I will make efforts to fulfill the quota. I am now ready to
