Use a yarn needle and Color A yarn to sew
the triangles onto the forearms of the
sleeves as shown in Picture 3.

27
Assembly

Basic Assembly:
Everything is sewn on using a yarn needle and matching yarn (Picture 1). The
first thing to be sewn before anything else is the Bat Symbol onto the chest
(Picture 2). After the symbol is in place, position all the pieces onto the cape
before sewing them down. The legs go underneath the shorts (Picture 3) and
are sewn down before the shirt and shorts. The shirt lays a few inches above
where the middle of the cape ends. Stop sewing the shirt down to the cape
about 2 inches below the armpit (Picture 4).

28
Cape Shoulders Assembly:
Once everything is sewn onto the cape, the shirt should lay on top of the cape
shoulders as shown in Picture 5. Fold over the cape shoulder, running it along
the sleeves and attaching the tip of the cape to the front of the shirt (Picture 6).
Sew along the arm opening attaching it to the cape shoulder. Be sure to leave
the arm hole open to allow for the arms of the wearer to slip into the opening.

29
Bat Hat

Gauge: 14 stitches in 4 inches; 12 rows in 4 inches

Additional Notes
If the wearer has a smaller head, omit the last increase (Round 7). If the
wearer has a larger head add an additional increase round. The hat still uses a
5.5mm hook and 2 strands of yarn.

Attaching Ears:
First position the ears on the hat where you want them to lay and fasten them
down with safety pins or place markers. With a needle and black yarn, sew
around the edges of the ears to attach them to the hat. Do not stitch down the
tips of the ear to the hat. The tips are to remain free and unattached so that
the stick up.
