PROJECT WORK

GRADE XII (2022-23)


10 Marks – Project Work + Viva-Voce

 Out of ten marks allotted for the term, 5 marks will be allotted for the project report/script /essay etc.
and 5 for the viva.

Read the chapter Indigo. Based on your understanding of the chapter ‘Indigo’, choose any one of the
given options for your project.

1.Interview-Based research:
The need for India to be self-reliant in post Covid era or Relevance of Gandhian principles in
modern times.
Students can choose a topic on which to do their research/ interview, eg, “Corona pandemic and the
fallout on families” and why we need to be self-reliant/ Relevance of Gandhian principles in our lives.
The student then conducts interviews with a few neighbours/ family members / friends on the topic. For
the interview, the student will frame questions based on the preliminary research/background.

The student will then write an essay/ write up / report up to 1000 words on his/her research and submit
it. He / She will then take a viva on the research project. The project can be done individually or in
pairs/ groups.

2. Research on Gandhi’s memorabilia/any interesting aspect of his life/ famous Gandhi anecdotes
and incidents of his life. Read the available literature.

Listen to podcasts/ interviews/radio or TV documentary on the topic and prepare a report countering or
agreeing with the speakers. Write an 800 - 1000 words report and submit. Take a viva on the report.

3. Students can relate experience as Gandhi or Shukla or dramatize any incident/section of the
story.

Students create their own video / Audio (2-3 minutes), after writing a script. Before they decide on a
format, the following elements can be taken into consideration:
● Theme/topic of the audio / video. Would the child like to pick an issue that is there on the chapter or
an extension of it?
● What are the elements that need to be part of the script?
● Will the video/audio have an interview with one or more guests?
● Would they prefer to improvise while chatting with guests, or work from a script?
● How would they present the script/report to the teacher, e.g. Can it be in the form of a narrative?

4. Write, direct and present a theatrical production/One act play Role Play (to be submitted as a
video recording)(2-3 minutes) – Life in Pre independence India(British Raj) and role of Gandhi in
the Freedom struggle.

This will be a project which will be done as a team. It will involve planning, preparation and
presentation. In short, various language skills will be utilized. There will be researching, discussion,
writing the script, auditioning and ultimately producing the play. The project will end with a
presentation and subsequently a viva.
Last date of Submission of Project Report File (Hard Copy) : 15 August, 2022
Conduct of Viva : January 2023 ( Term II)
Criteria for assessment: Adherence to the given time/word limit, Quality of content/script,
Creativity and Preparedness for the presentation, Use of Props, Clarity of speech, body language
and expression.
Ensure that the Project-Portfolio/ Project Report includes the following:
The Project-Portfolios is a compilation of the work that the students produce during the process of
working on their ALS Project.
The Project-Portfolio must include the following:
● Cover page, with title of project, school details/details of students.
● Statement of purpose/objectives/goals
● Certificate of completion under the guidance of the teacher.
● Action plan for the completion of assigned tasks.
● Materials such as scripts for the theatre/role play, questionnaires for interview, writtenassignments,
essays, survey-reports and other material evidence of learning progress and academic accomplishment.
● The 800-1000 words essay/Script/Report.
● Student/group reflections.
● If possible, Photographs that capture the positive learning experiences of the student(s).
● List of resources/bibliography.

GUIDELINES FOR PREPARING THE PROJECT.


1. The Project has to be handwritten.
2. For your portfolio, use one sided (A4 size) ruled sheets (spiral bound subsequently)
3. In project option no. 2, you can use a combination of topic options example Gandhi’s memorabilia
and anecdotes in case you cannot find adequate material on either one of the above.
4. Everyone has to submit individual portfolio even in pair and group work. In teamwork, your points
can overlap but language should be different.
5. In options 1 and 2, group size should not exceed 4 students.
6. Students will scan their hard copy and also upload it on ERP before binding the pages
7. The document (preferably coloured) of the same will be taken and filed by the students. This will
also be required for the viva by the external/internal.
8. A template for the certificate of completion will be shared by the teacher, which the student will take
a print and we will sign when we receive their files.
9. Students to ensure that they attach pictures of their positive learning experience during the project.
