assignment that day in the Florida Complex League.
>> The Baltimore Orioles brought pitcher Rico Garcia (Saint Louis/HPU) back to the majors on July 10.

>> The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (New York Yankees, Class AAA) released catcher David Freitas
(Hawaii) on Wednesday. Freitas, 33, has played in nine organizations since being drafted by the Wash-
ington Nationals in 2010. “He’s such a good dude,” RailRiders designated hitter Phillip Evans told
Scranton’s Times Tribune, “It's hard to see anyone go, especially guys that you've played with and
against .. your whole career.” In 125 major league at-bats across three seasons, Freitas has 25 hits
(200), one home run, 13 runs and eight RBIs. In the minors, Freitas has 78 homers in 2,974 at-bats,

>> New York Yankees shortstop Isiah Kiner Falefa (Mid-Pacific) made a sparkling play Friday night
against the rival Boston Red Sox, adjusting his route when a ball off the bat of Christian Vazquez was
deflected by pitcher Jordan Montgomery, then grabbing the ball bare handed and throwing to first
base for the out. Kiner-Falefa spoke to the New York Post about his defense before the game for a
story about his defensive struggles. “I've definitely had some dumb errors this year — that’s for sure,”
said KinerFalefa, who is tied for third in the major leagues with 11 errors. “But in past years, I've al-
ways had more errors (than others) because I've gotten to more balls than anybody else in the
league.” Read the full story at tinyurl.com/2p99c9mz.
