REFLECTION: MY PERSONAL POLITICAL PROFILE:

AM I CIVIC MINDED?

Look back at the civic action inventory you completed earlier, and identify the one
action that you’re most proud of, or the one that was the most meaningful to you.
Keep this in mind as you write your two-paragraph reflection.

In your first paragraph, try to answer as many of the following questions as

possible.

1. What kind of action did you take?

2. What was the civic issue that was involved?
3. When and how did you first hear about that issue?
4. Why did you decide to take action? (Why was this issue important to you?)
5. Were you trying to raise awareness about the issue, or did you have a
different goal?
6. How significant do you think your action was?

In your second paragraph, address these three questions:

1. Thinking back to the action you discussed in paragraph one, is there

anything you wish you had done differently?
2. Think of at least one other civic issue that you’re concerned about that you
haven’t taken action on yet. What are some things you’ll need to learn
about in order to make your action effective and meaningful?
3. Thinking back to the civic action inventory again, is there a type of civic
action on that list that you’d like to try? Is there something that you
haven’t participated in yet, but you’d like to? Which one?

Enrichment:

In your reflection, respond to this quotation:

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are
powerful beyond measure. It is our Light, not our Darkness, that most frightens
us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?”
