Visa health insurance requirements
If you are required to comply with visa condition 8501 - which states that all visa holders, including accompanying family members,
must maintain adequate health insurance for the duration of their stay in Australia - then you can provide the Department of Home
Affairs with this letter as evidence of your health insurance purchase.

It is important to ensure you pay your premiums to commence and/or maintain your health insurance cover. Bupa may otherwise
need to terminate your policy, which may mean that you are no longer compliant with the necessary visa requirements. Please
also note, that by providing this letter to Department of Home Affairs as part of the visa application process, you are agreeing that
Bupa may notify/confirm the status of your private health insurance coverage should we be requested to do so at any time by
Department of Home Affairs.
Payment details
In order to have received this letter you would have paid at least one month’s premium in advance. Once you have arrived in
Australia please make sure your direct debit payment details have been updated so your coverage can continue (if future ongoing
payments are required). You can do this by calling us, logging into myBupa or dropping into a Bupa centre.

Changing your arrival date is easy


Your membership will begin on the start date above, which is the arrival date you specified on your application. If your arrival date
changes, you can call us before you arrive to change your cover start date. Or once you’ve arrived visit one of our Bupa centres or
call with your passport and membership card to update your details.
