What is ozone?
• Oxygen molecules (O2) split by adding energy,
resulting in two individual oxygen atoms (O1)
• Oxygen atoms (O1) unite with other oxygen
molecules (O2) to produce Ozone (O3)
• (O1) + (O2) = (O3)
IntelliZone
What is ozone?
• Ozone gas (O3) is a very powerful antimicrobial
oxidizer.
• Ozone in pool water kills bacteria and viruses
through the same process as chlorine because
chlorine is also an oxidizer.
IntelliZone

How does OZONE work?

Oxidizable Substances

Weak Bond

Oxygen (O2)
IntelliZone

How does OZONE work?

An oxidation reaction occurs upon any
collision between an ozone molecule and a
molecule of an Oxidizable substance
IntelliZone

How does OZONE work?

The weak bond splits off leaving oxygen
as a by-product
IntelliZone

How does OZONE work?

During an oxidation reaction, organic
molecules are changed or destroyed and
dissolved metals are no longer soluble
IntelliZone
