Hello mom and dad.

I am writing to you from Rio de Janeiro to contract my experience as a volunteer. The

neighborhoods are poor, the houses are located on the hills and they are far from the center
of Rio de Janeiro. There are many children who do not go to school, because there are not
enough resources to make schools. The children I teach are always happy to learn and have a
lot of energy for activities, they are very cute. The host family I live with has a house with the
roof of the little shack leaking when it rained and there was no timetable, no textbooks and
still they trusted me. I felt happy to be able to help the children and how well the host family
treated me, but I also feel melancholic because I miss my home and you, I hope one day to
return as a volunteer to Rio or another country.

I hope to return soon, with love. Andrea.
