Dear Future Roadrunner,

Thank you for confirming your attendance at our Transfer New Student Orientation Program scheduled for Saturday, April 29,
2017, starting at 8:00 a.m. in the Icardo Center. Please arrive between 7:00 and 7:15 a.m. for check-in. California State
University, Bakersfield is committed to helping new students make their transition to the campus as smoothly and effortlessly as
possible.
Listed below are some important steps designed to prepare you for the New Student Orientation Program and the registration process.

1. New Student Orientation is Mandatory – All new undergraduate students are required to attend an orientation program.
The purpose of the orientation program is to facilitate an easy smooth transition for new students into their academic and
community life at CSU Bakersfield. The fee for the Orientation is $55.00 (non-refundable) and is payable by check, cash or
money order to CSUB.

2. Academic Advising – CSU Bakersfield offers advising and registration for all majors within our four schools: Natural
Science, Mathematics & Engineering, Business and Public Administration, Arts and Humanities, and Social Sciences &
Education. You must contact the school for which your major resides in order to receive advisement and register for classes.
Below is a list of numbers for the student centers for each school. You are encouraged to arrange your advising session as
soon as possible as you will not have an opportunity to register for classes during orientation.

Arts and Humanities (AH): 661-654-2221


Business and Public Administration (BPA): 661-654-2326
Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Engineering (NSME): 661-654-6322
Social Sciences & Education (SSE): 661-654-6807

3. RunnerCard – The RunnerCard is your official identification card for the university. Your card will allow you to purchase
meals, buy supplies, make Xerox copies, check books out of the library, and use the Student Health Center. To take your
picture for the ID card, you must go to lower level of the Walter Stiern Library, Room 1B. Please contact them at
661-654-2440 for their hours of operation. You are encouraged to arrange a time to obtain your ID card as you will not
have an opportunity to visit the RunnerCard Office during orientation. You may want to get your ID card on the same day
you arrange for your advisement.

4. Parking – Lots I and H are the most convenient parking location for students scheduled to attend the orientation program.
Parking fees will not be required in any lots on April 29, 2017.
