Naval Engineer

Role:

• The Naval Engineer provides required technical expertise in all aspects related to Floating Systems
Integrity and Engineering, with special emphasis in Naval Architecture and Marine Systems
disciplines. The incumbent provides daily technical support to Marine Operations, Maintenance and
Production Departments.
• He/she actively supports the Lead Marine Engineer in the Execution Plan of LNG and Condensate
Offloading, which includes the development and application of Decision Support systems (eg.
CODEST), elaboration of Hydrodynamics and Mooring numerical models, as well as the creation of
Offloading Availability and Offloading Planning Dashboards associated with the Lifting Programme.
• He/she is responsible for the FLNG Stability Management via Loading Computer and Stability
models; collection and statistical processing of the Marine Monitoring Systems data as well as its
integration in Coral Floating Integrity Management (FIM) and Structural Integrity Management (SIM)
Digital Twins.

Main Responsibilities:

Project Phase:

• Develop the Side-by-Side and Tandem offloading numerical models, as well as the Turret Mooring
numerical model;
• Develop programming routines, which will support the collection and treatment of the FLNG
monitoring systems data and their integration into the FIM and SIM Digital Twins and IAM;
• Develop programming routines, which will support the Offloading Planning in connection with the
Lifting Programme, as well as the elaboration of Marine Integrity Dashboards;
• Support Coral in the EPCIC execution activities as required, such as commissioning of the Marine
systems, sea trials procedures, FLNG Towing, Installation and Hookup.
• Support the Lead Marine Engineer in the:
o Development of the Coral LNG and Condensate Terminal Regulations, as well as interface
with relevant stakeholders;
o Develop the LNG and Condensate offloading decision-making workflows, interfaces
procedures, offloading planning, monitoring and performance dashboards.

o FLNG Marine Integrity’s digitalization programme (creation of the Marine Digital Twins,
integration with the FLNG marine monitoring systems, development of condition monitoring
and performance dashboards);
o Tender of the berthing and offloading Decision Support Tool, and its integration with the
LNG Execution Plan.
o Tender of the Weather Forecast System;
o Tender of the Floating Integrity Management and Emergency Response Plan;
o Development of Work Instructions and Procedures;

OPERATIONS PHASE

• Provide day-to-day efforts regarding the berthing and offloading availability, using the decision
support tool and carrying out the underlying activities; utilize the data received by the weather
forecast contract, metocean data acquisition post processing and FLNG monitoring systems in the
decision-making workflows, monitor offloading the offloading activities and propose
preventive/corrective actions if necessary.
• Feed Coral Digital Twins with required input for the generation of the Offloading Performance
Dashboards, which aims to provide detailed assessment regarding availability, integrity,
performance (planned vs actual cargos), plan for corrective actions and adjustment to the Lifting
Programme (Offloading schedule) in face of the actual performance and availability.
• Provide real-time technical support for the Offloading Execution (weekly basis) from pre-berthing
meetings to LNGC departure, through the Integrated Operating Center in Maputo.
• Monitor the FLNG Marine condition and performance by interpreting the real time data provided by
the FLNG Marine Monitoring systems and conducting post processing of the signals;
• Provide required timely engineering assessment via the Digital Twins and CODEST in order to assist
operational decisions, prevent downtime occurrences (eg. Tank top management, offloading
availability) and assess abnormal FLNG operating conditions;
• Coordination and Monitoring of the FLNG Stability with the aid of Loading Computer, including ballast
plan for tank interventions and other unusual occurrences;
• Provide support for Damage Assessment workforce and Marine Emergency Response Plan and
interface with Contractor;

Naval Engineer

• Support the Lead Marine Engineer in the:

o Technical interface with the Buyer in the context of the coordination of the Lifting Programme
and monitoring of the Offloading activities;
o Interface with Production Planning team (eg. Production Profile updates, turnaround
activities, etc) required for the consolidation of the Offloading Lifting Programme; Provide
required input to Production Planning team (eg. Potential tank top events due to lack
offloading availability) required for mitigating additional downtime in the Plant.
o Execution of engineering studies related to offloading availability improvement.
o Compatibility studies for new LNGCs and Condensate Tankers.
o Provision the side-by-side berthing and mooring recommendations to the Marine department
for safe and efficient offloading operation.
o Corrective and preventive actions (eg. Repairs, reinforcements, etc) the Marine and Naval
systems as result of the findings obtained by the interpretation of the Digital Twin’s data,
as well as by the previously conducted inspections.
o Troubleshooting, Management of Change and root cause failure analysis for the
aforementioned systems.

Qualifications and Experience:

• 5-8 years: engineering of offshore and floating facilities

• FLNG or FPSO experience is major plus
• Charter engineer or Professional Engineer is a plus
• Bachelor´s Degree in Naval Engineering; Masters Degree in Science is a Plus
• Master of Science is a plus; Engineering skills.
• Expert Knowledge of Naval Architecture;
• FLNG, FPSO or tanker experience is essential, semi-submersible experience is highly desirable.

Competencies:

• Proficiency in English (verbal and written);

• Project Management skills are a major plus;

of Numerical Models. Expertise in Orcaflex and HydroD (or similar softwares) are essential.
• Knowledge of Code Programming and Statistical Processing. Expertise in Matlab and Python (or
