PURPOSE
To ensure continuing suitability and up-gradation of competence and skills of personnel by providing
regular training in terms of knowledge, skills and attitude.

2. SCOPE
This procedure is applicable to all the employees of SSE and also those work for the organization.

5. PROCEDURE
5.1 REQUIREMENT
5.1.1 As per the number of samples that the laboratory receives the Head - QA & MR decides on how
many Personnel have to appointed for smooth operation of laboratory activities.
5.1.2 The laboratory currently employs 4 personals

5.2 SELECTION
5.2.1 The personnel required to smooth operation of SSE is selected as per the competences
required as per the competency matrix below:

5.2.2 Whenever there is an opening in SSE, the QM/ Lab I/C advertise in news paper/ contact
recruitment agency / through personal contacts find suitable candidates as per the above matrix.
5.2.3 After an initial telephonic interview, the candidates are called to SSE for a general interview with
HR-In Charge and a technical interview with the QM/ Lab In-Charge.
5.2.4 Once a suitable candidate is selected an appointment offer is given along with date of joining.
5.2.5 Confidentiality and impartiality undertaking is taken from the new appointee.

5.3 TRAINING
5.3.1 General orientation along with hands on testing is conducted by the QM/ Lab In-Charge for 1
week and all activities of the new appointee will be under the supervision of QM/ Lab In0Charge
for 2 months. After satisfactory completion he/she can carry out testing independently.
5.3.2 Training needs are identified for the laboratory personnel by the QM/ Lab In-Charge
based on the following:
 Results of competency test carried out such as repeatability, reproducibility etc.
 Results of ILC
 Present and anticipated work in the future
 Revision of standards
 General training

5.3.3 The following trainings are carried out as per the above plan on:
 Quality Management system IS/ISO/IEC 17025:2017
 Uncertainty Measurement
 Auditing as per ISO 19011
5.3.4 Training conducted is evaluated to know its effectiveness

5.4 SUPERVISION / MONITORING


5.4.1 The newly recruited staff after training carry’s out testing under through supervision of the TM
Or QM for the first two months.
5.4.2 After successful completion of this period the chemist is allowed to carry out testing on his own
5.4.3 However full freedom to carry out all tests is given only after 6 months after successfully
completing quality assurance tests of repeatability and reproducibility.

5.5 AUTHORIZATION
Authorized signatories for the laboratory are QM, Lab In-Charge and Head-QA & MR who are
knowledgeable about all laboratory activities.
