INTRODUCTION
In order to prevent suffering from work related accidents or illnesses and improve the level of safety
and health at workplaces widely in MARAFIQ, it is necessary for all personnel to:
Understand the importance of safety and health,
Comply with basic safety requirements and
Enhance their awareness of safety and health.
All personnel entering and or working within MARAFIQ's premises, facilities or properties, either direct
hire, contractors or visitors, should commit themselves to:
Create a safe working environment for themselves and others
Support MARAFIQ Management in preventing undesired incidents
Strictly follow MARAFIQ Basic Safety Rules, requirements and Instructions
Demonstrate Safe Behavior at all times and do not conduct undesirable acts such as
horseplay or practical jokes.
1 SAFETY INDUCTION
1. All persons entering the Marafiq's premises and intending to carry out
works MUST attend the Safety Induction Training Course.
2. Marafiq Departments and Contractors should send all new employees for
attending Safety Induction training Course along with the duly completed
Safety Training Attendance Sheet, as scheduled by OHS Section .
3. Personnel who have not attended the “Safety Induction” training course
should not be permitted to perform any works inside Marafiq premises,
including contractor APR oral test and safety officer interview.

2 IDENTIFICATION CARDS
All employees of Marafiq, contractors and visitors must:
1. Carry an ID or Temporary Gate Pass, issued by ID Section of Marafiq
Government Relations before entering Marafiq premises.
2. Produce the ID card to Marafiq Industrial Security Department – Security or
OHS Section , when demanded.

3 DRESS CODE
All persons entering Marafiq's process areas should wear
Full trouser and shirt
Marafiq direct hire personnel and permanent contractors shall wear uniform
of their company or
A coverall of material type suitable to the risk, the person is exposed:
Loose fitting clothing, loose chains, rings, necklaces, bracelets and neck-ties
shall not be worn by any person performing work in the process plant areas
in the vicinity of rotating equipment. Long hair must be tied or covered by a
close fitting net
4 SECURITY CHECKS
All vehicles and personnel MUST STOP at the entrance gates and co-
operate fully with the Company’s recognized security officials, who are
empowered by the High Commission Industrial Security – Ministry of
Interior in undergoing security checks.

5 PERMIT TO WORK
For more details refer to PTW & Isolation procedures
Before conducting any non-operational works within the company's premises
1. A Permit to Work Certificate must be obtained
2. Risk assessments should be submitted to operations department before receiving a Permit to Work
Certificate.
3. Hazards and risks must be communicated to all personnel involved in performing non-operational
works before starting work.
4. Plant & Equipment should be isolated when needed
5. Safety precautions for conducting works must be taken as required.
6. Any doubts with respect to safety risks must be clarified with Area Owner / Operations Department
and/or Marafiq OHS Section

7 SAFETY SIGNS
Safety signs and instruction must be observed and respected. The following are the
types of the safety signs
1. Prohibition: You must not do –You must stop doing (This color code is also
applicable for identification of firefighting equipment)
2. Mandatory: You must do / carry out the action given by the sign.
3. Caution: Risk of danger/hazard ahead – Specific precautions must be taken
4. Safe Condition / Emergency: Safe to go / Identifies emergency equipment

10 MEDICATION
Any employee, who is on prescribed medicine that could affect his normal
duties, should inform his Supervisor(s) directly or via the company Medical
Clinic prior to performing his daily duties.
11 INCIDENT REPORTING
For more details refer to procedure MSSM -1-SF-002
1. All incidents at work listed below must be reported immediately to the
Supervisor:
Injury accidents – minor injury, major injury or fatality
Occupational Injury and illness
Damage to plant, property & environment and
Near Misses.

13 HOUSEKEEPING
Workplace, before starting, during and after finishing job, should be:
1. maintained neat, clean, tidy and free from any potential
hazards
2. All access points (aisles, walkways, stairs, emergency exits,
etc) must be kept clear to avoid slip, trip and fall hazards.
3. Access to emergency equipment i.e. escape routes, stairways,
fire extinguishers, eye wash, showers, etc must be free from
obstacles and should not be blocked.
4. All waste must be classified according to hazards and must be
littered in the designated waste bin
15 HOT WORK
No hot work should be undertaken on MARAFIQ’s premises without a valid
Permit to Work Certificate.
Examples: Igniting fires, flames, lighters or matches, welding, flame cutting or
grinding
All conditions, safety precautions and instructions written or indicated on the Permit to Work
Certificate for conducting Hot Work should be strictly followed.
16 PROHIBITION
1. The use of Mobile phones is not allowed in restricted areas.
2. No personal portable battery-operated electrical or electronic
devices should be allowed inside areas with a potential
explosive gas atmosphere unless specifically authorized.
Exemptions: Followings are allowed
Personal calculators in Plant Areas but not in potentially
explosive atmosphere
Wrist watches and hearing aids.
Intrinsically safe and flameproof appliance.

17 SMOKING
1. Smoking is prohibited in all buildings and Restricted Process
Areas
2. Smoking is permitted only at the smoking zones designated
by MARAFIQ with a safety sign

SMOKING CAUSES LUNG CANCER AND HEART
DISEASE
18 EMERGENCY
In case of fire / explosion / chlorine leak / injury emergency:
Dial the emergency phone # 013 341-9911 at JUBAIL & 6333 at YANBU
for ambulance or fire brigade assistance.
Activate fire alarm call point.
Evacuate the area, go diagonally across wind direction and gather at the
assembly point or other safer place as indicated by your supervisor.
