Campus

1. Accessibility
▪ Option 1: Metro to Hauz Khas and then by Auto (Rs.40)
▪ Option 2: Direct Auto (Rs. 150-200), Ola/Uber (Rs. 200-250)
▪ From Airport: Take a prepaid cab (Rs. 330-350)

2. Hostel Allocation (Subject to change by administration due to the ongoing


COVID -19 situation)
In an ideal case, you will be allocated your hostel before the course commences.
You will be allowed to occupy your room as soon as the allotment is done. You can
reach the campus earlier and the admin will provide you temporary accommodation,
but only for the student.

3. Parents’ Accommodation
No accommodation for parents. You will have to make your own arrangements if
parents are accompanying you. Look for nearby Oyo and hotels. They are reasonable.

Academics

1. Academic Calendar, Rulebook, Courses, etc


You will get a Student Handbook when you join. The handbook will contain the rules and
regulations, academic calendar and the course structure. The list of electives and
subjects that have been offered to the 2020-22 batch will be mentioned in the
handbook.

2. Textbooks
The institute will provide you with the textbooks and all the reading material for each
and every course that you would be taught.

3. Registration on a Later Date


In case of a genuine reason, the institute may allow you to join late. It is advisable to
contact the GSD (Graduate Studies Division) and inform them of the same. You can

All of these documents are MANDATORY. Please ensure that you bring
the original documents for a smooth admission and verification process.

Anything that is to be mentioned in a candidate’s CV has to be backed by a proof (including


any numbers that imply an achievement/ job description).

In case any of the proofs are not available, a written mail from any of the
following maybe obtained (as applicable):

• Head of Department at College/ Grad School


• Mail from Manager at Workplace
• Instructor(s) of recognized training/ certifications

The sanctity of these processes are taken with utmost seriousness at IIFT.
Please ensure you have all these documents.

1. Class Timings
The official class timings are 9:00-6:00, and the working week is 5 days. The usual
maximum of classes is five in a day, and each lecture is of 1:30 hours long. There may
be fewer than 5 classes per day, it depends on the timetable for the week. There is a
15-minute break between each class, apart from the lunch break. Some visiting
professors may take classes after 6 and/or on weekends. Corporate guest lectures
happen after 6:00 PM and at the discretion of the Placement Committee.

2. Sections
The Delhi batch has been divided into four sections of approximately 50-52 students
each.

3. Laptop
Having a laptop is a necessity since all your projects, quizzes, and studies will
require it. A laptop having decent processing power is more than sufficient. It is
advisable that the battery life be good as you won’t get charging points in every
classroom for each individual student.

4. Attendance (Subject to change by the administration)


80% attendance is mandatory for every course. For every 10% fall in attendance, you will
have a grade cut of 0.33 in that particular subject. For medical issues, you need to
submit a waiver to the administration. The attendance is taken by the professors using
an online platform where the photograph of the candidate is visible against his/her
name.

5. Exchange Program
IIFT has signed MoUs with several foreign universities across Europe and students from
IIFT spend their 3rd Trimester at these universities. In return, we have students from
these universities coming to IIFT and pursuing their studies here. The program is once in
a lifetime opportunity of getting the global exposure in your student life and learning
different aspects of culture of countries that you visit during the program. The process
for application for Student Exchange Program is very simple. You have to write a
statement of purpose of your application for the exchange program. You also have to
give preferences for the foreign universities that you intend to apply to. Then you will be
interviewed by a panel of faculties. A final list is provided based on your preferences and
interview. The tuition fee for the chosen university is borne by the institute but all other
expenses have to be borne by the student concerned.

Extra-Curricular Activities (within campus)


a) The Cultural Committee, Melange has the following activities:
• The Annual Management & Cultural Fest Quo Vadis (Delhi Campus) are the biggest
of their calendar events. The previous editions have had Rahul Subramanian,
Jubin Nautiyal, Benny Dayal, Anubhav Bassi, Nishant Suri etc. headlining the Pro-
Nights in addition to numerous cultural events. There are also a host of
management competitions covering every domain.
• Big Fight is the inter-section war which covers Quizzing, Sports and Cultural
Events. This is the first event where you officially get to meet a lot of the seniors.
• Regular 'official' parties in college, providing some welcome breaks from the
MBA rigor
• Celebration of all festivals, national and regional takes place in the campus

b) The Quizzing club, Quintessential organizes regular Quiz nights which are
not just for the hard-core trivia lovers, but also for pop culture fiends.

c) The Sports Committee organizes ‘Adrenaline – IIFT’s Sports Fest in the month of
Feb with students from major B-Schools competing. They also organize Ultimate
Warrior League, a mega sporting event based on the IPL format, with real time
team and player auctions. And yes, the money involved is real too.

d) The Media Committee’s headline event is TEDx IIFT Delhi and the 2021
edition will be its sixth season. In the past, we’ve hosted speakers like Javed
Akhtar, Somdev Devvarman, Shiv Khera, Mallika Jagad, General Bikram Singh,
Ashwin Sanghi, Swanand Kirkire etc. Apart from this Media committee is
responsible for the DRIIFT meets across cities and the on-boarding of the
incoming batch.

e) The Alumni Committee’s yearly event in campus is the Grand Alumni Reunion,
which is quite simply the grandest party on campus. Be ready to be dressed to the
nines in front of our esteemed alum!

f) The annual business conclave ‘Tradewinds’ has panels from corporates from each
domain- Finance, Marketing, Operations, Trade, HR and a special panel for
Pharmaceutical industry. This is the first opportunity for an incoming batch to
prove their mettle in front of the corporate world.

6. Mess
Yes, mess fee is compulsory for the period in which you are in campus. Breakfast,
lunch, snacks and dinner are available.

7. Water
The mess has a water cooler. There is a water cooler on every floor in
the old hostel (on campus) and on every floor in C-9 (off-campus).

8. Other Eating Facilities


There is a Nescafe kiosk on campus which is open throughout the night. You
can get tea, coffee, sandwiches etc. over here. There is also an IRCTC canteen that
is open during working hours. There are several dhabas near the institute which provide
a wide range of snacks and food at reasonable prices.

9. More about the Hostels
OH has rooms available on triple sharing basis with attached washrooms. NH and C-
9 has twin sharing rooms with common washrooms. Both the hostels have
elevators. Hot water is available during winter. You are not allowed to have
any high power electronic equipment like refrigerators in your room but desert
coolers are allowed. There is a refrigerator in the mess which you can use to store
perishable items. A common network printer and a common desktop computer are
present in each hostel.

10. Curfew Timings


You cannot leave campus after 11:00 PM.

11. Common Room


The basement of the old hostel serves as the common room. It has a TV, some chairs, a
TT Table and Acs installed. C-9 has a TV and TT table installed in the dining
area. NH has a common room with a TV, TT table and also serves as the place where
the sports equipment is stored.

12. Gym
There is a gym in NH.

13. Safety
The hostels are very safe. Several inhabitants don’t even believe in locking their
rooms! Although no incident of stealing has occurred yet, it is up to you
whether you want to lock your rooms/cupboards, after consultation with your
roommates.

14. Medical Facilities


A doctor visits the campus daily. You can approach him for minor problems. Also,
there are 2 hospitals at walking distance from the campus.

15. Internet
The entire campus is WiFi enabled. Each student is allowed to register one device
with the authorities on which the WiFi will work. It is advisable that this device be your
laptop as you will need it for all online quizzes.

16. Stationery/ Xerox


Yes. In addition to that, the nearest market i.e. Katwaria Sarai is a 5 min walk from IIFT.
You will get everything you need in the market.

17. ATM
As of now there is no ATM. There is a mobile SBI ATM van that visits around 2
days in a week. All the banks have ATMs in Katwaria Sarai. The nearest SBI branch
(NCERT) is approximately 2kms away.

18. Library
We have a library with a holding of around 84,000 volumes and subscriptions to 800
journals with complete online cataloguing. The Library has a unique collection of
publications of FAO, IMF, OECD, UNCTAD, UNCTC, World Bank, and other international
agencies. Students have access to database such as the NIC, CMIE, India Trades, World
Bank Indicators and other audio-visual aids on management. A WTO Resource Centre in
the Library to focus exclusively on WTO issues has also been set up. This Centre is the
only one of its kind in India.

19. Mobile Connection


Almost all mobile connections have decent connectivity in the campus. However, we
suggest Vodafone, Reliance Jio or Airtel as their network is slightly better.

You can get all the necessary items from Katwaria Sarai which is a 5
minutes’ walk from campus. All groceries are also available in the market.
Grofers makes deliveries to campus, but you will have to collect them only at
the gate.
