Battle of the Barricade Richland Country Club Dec. 16, 1864: After the Battle of Nashville, a Confederate unit tried to block pursuing Union forces with fence rails across Granny White Pike. Fierce hand-to-hand combat followed.

Carter Cotton Gin 1259 Columbia Ave. Scene of some of the heaviest fighting as Confederate forces met the Federal line. Carnton Plantation 1345 Carnton Lane A Confederate hospital during the war where hundreds of soldiers were brought.
Carter House 1140 Columbia Ave. Used as the Federal command post as the Carter family hid in the cellar. Winstead Hill 4023 Columbia Ave. Nov. 30, 1964: Where Gen. John Bell Hood staged his forces before the Battle of Franklin.

Rippavilla Plantation 5700 Main St. Used as a hospital during the Civil War. Troops are buried in the side yard.
Homestead Manor 4683 Columbia Pike There was a skirmish here as troops made their way north to the Battle of Franklin.
Oaklawn Plantation 3331 Denning Lane Nov. 29, 1864: Confederate Gen. John Bell Hood slept while Union forces slipped by, marching north on their way to the Battle of Franklin.
