 Answer the following questions.
Q1.  why did the young Seagull have to join the company of his
family?
Ans. The young Seagull was left alone on his ledge. He had not
eaten anything since last night. He had to join the company of his
family in order to learn the art of swimming, curvetting and diving.
Besides that, his family refused to bring him food on the ledge. If
he did not fly, he would die because of hunger.
Q2.Why don't his parents, his brothers and sister give him food? 
Ans. His parents, his brother and his sister don’t give him food
because they want the young seagull should make an attempt to
fly like them and search for his food by himself. They don’t like to
see him fearful and coward. They even taunt him for his
cowardice and threaten him to let him die of hunger unless he
himself makes an attempt to fly. 
Q3.What was the attitude of the family towards the young
Seagull? Was it agreeable to you or not? Explain.
Ans.
The attitude of the family was very hard towards the young
Seagull. When they saw that he is not ready to listen to them,
they ignored him completely. They kept on flying, catching their
prey and devouring it. The attitude of the family towards the
young seagull was positive and agreeable because if they took
pity on him and brought him food on the ledge, he would never be
able to fly in his life.
Q4.Describe in your own words the feelings actions and thoughts
of the young serial soon after his fall.
Ans.  Soon after his fall, the young seagull was gripped by a
monstrous terror for a moment. But immediately he felt that his
wings spread outward. He could feel the tips of his wings cutting
through the air. He was flying confidently without falling. He was
enjoying his first flight.His family was also appreciating and
encouraging him.
 Q5.What could be the author's purpose behind writing the story
‘His first flight’? 
Ans. The writer wants to highlight the importance of courage and
confidence in life. He wants to tell us that fortune favours only
those who are bold and courageous. Through the story of young
Seagull, the writer wants to convey the message that a journey of
hundred miles begins with a single step. One needs to be
confident to take that single step. If you overcome your fears then
you will be able to enjoy the real taste of life like a young seagull.

which shows cause and effect.
Ans. Cause:
“He felt certain that would never support him.”
Effect:
so he bent his head and ran away back to the little hole under the
ledge where he slept at night

Ans. In paragraph 5, the young Seagull took his first bold step
because of the efforts of his mother.

He raised his breast and banked against the wind.
