Jake Wadkins July 19th, 2022

Dear Parents,

My name is Jake Wadkins and I have the pleasure of teaching your student Theatre Arts at Lobit Middle
School! I graduated from College of the Mainland in 2019 with my AA in Theatre Arts and my BFA from
Tarleton State University in Musical Theatre. This is my first-year teaching, and I am glad to be back in
Dickinson ISD.

I wanted to reiterate to you the expectations and procedures I have for ALL of my students. While I do
understand that Theatre may not be everyone’s favorite thing, I do believe that Theatre offers so much more
to our kids than just saying lines onstage. By the end of this year, I expect our students to improve on their
time management skills, their kindness to one another, and to have a respect for what Theatre can do and
will continue to do. My grading rules are not very strict, but do weigh a lot on participation, showing up and
coming into class better than they were the day before. I do offer retakes for quizzes and tests, but the
student MUST come during the designated time to approach me about it. I do not usually give out
homework, however, there might be lines and/or monologues and scenes that need to be memorized for
class that should be done at home.

I am very excited for this year coming up, if you or your student have any questions, comments, or concerns
for me, my office hours are 12:05-1:25, 4th Period, and I check my emails frequently.

Let’s have a great year and GO GATORS!

-Mr. Jake Wadkins
