demonstrate their learning. Additionally, the projects can be shared outside of the classroom.
(Note: This objective could be reached by displaying the project on the school’s morning
newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, presenting it to another class, or publishing
it via an outside source.)
Lesson idea implementation: I will use the podcast as an introduction to the new topic. Then have
the students discuss what they remember about the podcast and ask if they already know
somethings about the topic. We will then discuss the topic in more detail. Next, I will put the
students into groups and give them either a living organism or a non-living object to make a podcast
about. Then we will listen to the podcast and students will give feedback to their peers. We will
conclude the lesson by reviewing what makes a living organism living and not non-living, and then
what makes a non-living object non-living and not living.

Managing student learning: To manage the students learning they will work in groups and have a time
limit to get their podcast complete. Each student will be given a different role in order to complete the
podcast within the time limit. My assistant and I will go around and assist the groups.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Reflection: The UDL principle I will focus on for this lesson is
Multiple Means of Engagement. I feel this principle is represented because the students are working
in groups to make their podcast.

Reflection: I feel this activity will impact student learning by allowing students to work together and
agree on what should be said in the podcast. I look forward to implanting the making of the podcast
because each group will take a different approach to how they make the podcast.
