Principle Of Operation

This probe is designed to measure the magnetic susceptibility of the formations crossed
by the borehole. It is mainly used for exploration for deposits of Fe minerals – magnetite,
pyrrhotite and haematite. It can identify formations containing magnetite from 0.005 to
100 % concentration. The sonde includes one transmitter coil operating at 2 kHz
frequency, and a receiver coil with 25 cm interspacing.
A calibration jig with two detachable calibration units (0.6 x10-3 & 5 x 10-3 SI units) is
supplied witht he sonde. Follow the standard channel calibration
procedure to calibrate the sonde in the desired range using either of
the 2 units. The calibration jig must be positioned at the measure
point point over the sonde housing, the measure point is marked with
an orange dot on the body of the sonde.

Please note: During calibration, the sonde must be kept well away from any conductive
body.
