Dear prospective students and future Waseda students, You must be feeling excited and have high hopes
about your new life as a student of this highly rated university.

With its traditional emphasis on thinking globally while acting locally, Waseda University encourages its
students who is ready to leave your family and embark on your life at Waseda no Mori to live in one of its
dormitories. If you're interested in international life, Waseda International Student House (WISH), provides a
communal living environment for both Japanese and international students. All bedrooms are singles: you can
live in a community of selected Waseda students from around the world. WISH where offer educational
program inside and outside dormitory provides a platform for you to develop and extend your global
network. Stay together, talk together, laugh together, sometimes discuss and learn from each other, you will
get lifelong friend. Irreplaceable experience is waiting for you.

Another option for your new life is the student dormitories operated by university affiliated companies
(university affiliated dormitories). These affiliated dormitories, specially designed for Waseda students, offer a
variety of housing types managed by highly experienced companies, so the residents can pursue their student
life with peace of mind.

Making multiple applications for dormitories operated by Waseda University and affiliated companies

When you apply for Waseda University student dormitories as your first choice, you may simultaneously apply for WID and/or Dormy as your second
to seventh choices, or for Wakeijuku, Crevia Will Waseda, or Campus terrace Waseda as your second choice. However, once you are accepted for a
Waseda University student dormitory, you must enter that dormitory regardless of any reason, and your applications for dormitories operated by affili-
ated companies will be automatically cancelled without any cancellation charge. Applicants who wish to live in any one of the student dormitories are
strongly advised to submit multiple applications, and not to apply for just one Waseda-operated dormitory.

You can either bring your own blankets, pillow and sheets, or lease them from the dormitory. (Information will be provided during the moving-in process.) Please
purchase a mattress cover as directed by the University. *If you bring a TV into your unit, an NHK license fee shall be payable in accordance with the Broadcast Act.

Student living areas are located on the 3rd to 11th floors. Separate security elevators
3-11 F access the men-only floors and women-only floors. Each unit is for four residents
who have a single bedroom each and share a living room. By communicating with
other residents on a daily basis through attending SI Programs (p. 9-10), residents
can interact and forge international friendships. Each floor has a community kitchen,
shower rooms, and a laundry available 24 hours a day. Sinks, showers, and such are
cleaned by the cleaning staff.

On the 2nd floor, all residents can share the high-quality facilities including multi-pur-

music rooms, a fitness room, and separate men's and women's Japanese-style baths.

The lounge on the ground floor can be used 24 hours a day, by both residents and

between 9:00 am and 8:30 pm.)
There is no curfew, and the staff welcome people at the entrance 24 hours a day.
They also serve as security and facility maintenance staff for the entire building, to
provide a safe environment for the residents.

Social Intelligence(SI) Programs


Aims of the SI Programs
Today’s global society demands a multitude of skills, including the ability to identify challenges
and to think and act independently, and the logical thinking skills needed to successfully navigate
issues arising from the actions of interested parties from diverse backgrounds. Perseverance is
essential, especially in challenging situations where results are hard to achieve.
Through group work, the SI Programs provide students with training to maximize the knowledge
and skills they have acquired in their regular university classes. Please take this invaluable
opportunity to join students from other countries, regions and family backgrounds at Waseda
International Student House (WISH) and set out on the path to your true potential.

Fieldwork-style SI programs
In addition to the classroom SI Programs, we offer students various types of trips to deepen their understanding of various themes such as local
business, regional culture and regional society, through visits to locations in Japan and overseas. Below is an outline of recent trips, and some
students’ reports of such experiences.

SI Award Study Tours ~Learning is its own reward~


SI Program participants who achieve outstanding results will be given the valuable opportunity to learn through
cross-cultural experiences, overseas business internships and field studies in various areas of Japan and overseas. Set your
sights on qualifying for this prize, which will give you the chance to fully apply the skills you acquired in the SI Programs and

Sometimes, I wonder how things that I have learned in Waseda are actually applied to the Throughout the seven days of the SI

RAs (Resident Assistants) are student leaders who support your dormitory life!
RAs are student leaders who help residents living away from home to lead a safe and pleasant
daily life in their dormitory.
They are senior students who have been carefully selected and trained by the University to
live in the dormitory and support its residents. You can approach these fellow residents with
any worries or concerns that you find difficult to bring up with your professors or other
university staff. You can also suggest ideas to your RAs and collaborate with them on event

Established in 1990, Higashi-Fushimi Student Dormitory has seen many of its residents go out to careers in the world.
When the renovation was completed in 2007, the dormitory began a new page in its history. Higashi-Fushimi in Musash-
ino is surrounded by greenery and is traditionally the home of Waseda University sports teams. An experienced live-in

"Tell us about your current dormitory life."
Interviews with three senior students who live in WID
WID, international student dormitories, are exclusively for Waseda students. What is life like in WID now, in
mid-2021? We asked three students who live in WID in three different areas to freely discuss their life at WID
and their student life these days.

Q. How were your classes and school life last


year?
