The #EndSars Protest

Endsars was the trigger the Nigerian youth pulled to shoot at the government thinking it would bring
about an end to all the plight they have been facing only for the ensars bullet to hit the bullet proof

youths seriously. After the ---- the business of governance and nation building must continue. How can
the government and the citizen ensure that such a situation does not arise again?

police brutality which has claimed many lives over the years and nothing seem to have been done about
it but then there were some underlying reasons behind the Endsars protest which caused the protest to
still remain even after the disbanding of SARS. Some of those underlying factors are: perceived
marginalization, unemployment and hostility towards successful young people.

Lessons on effective governance; the government needs to look into the following areas in order to

National consciousness

Politics of deception; prosecuting those with the government when found wanting

The first EndSars protest took place in 2017. Nigerianswhen it seemed was ignited by just a tweet,
which spread globally online like wild fire gaining the support of local and international celebrities. But
back in Nigeria; the origin of the EndSars protest, there seem to be division as regarding the demand
whether or not to end SARS. While the Southern part of the country is clamoring for an end in to the
SARS unit, in most Northern part, it was a different demand.
