Cargo Securement Truck Loading Checklist

Purpose
The purpose of this form is to:
 Establishes a simplified APAC minimum requirement for cargo and load securement for road transport based
on global document HSE-GLB-En-100421
 Provides guidelines for proper cargo/load securement
 Ensure loads are secured and restrained in accordance with more stringent local regulations with suitably
inspected and approved securing equipment
 Ensure loads are secured and restrained in accordance with more stringent Enterprise regulations with suitably
inspected and approved securing equipment

Scope
This document is applicable to personnel working at field locations or facilities supporting field operations

Responsibility and Authority

Location Manager, Operations Manager, Manufacturing Manager or Facility Manager


 Ensure that the requirements of this procedure and supporting documents are implemented
 Ensure loads are transported in accordance with this procedure and applicable regulatory requirements
 Provide appropriate training and resources
 Transportation and Loading of HAZMAT/Dangerous Goods require additional HAZMAT/DG training, per
Dangerous Goods Procedure
 Ensure contractors charged with loading / securing of cargo have been properly trained in Cargo Loading and
Securement

Supervisors

 Plan for Load Securement Inspection and Load Securement System requirements
 Ensure load securement inspections are completed as required
 Ensure loads are secured properly and in accordance with the minimum requirements of this procedure

Employees, Drivers and Contract Employees

 Comply with the requirements of the Load Securement and Load Securement System requirements and this
procedure
 Perform load securement inspections in accordance with regulatory requirements and this procedure
 Inspect components of the load securement system prior to using
 Drivers are ultimately responsible to ensure the proper loading and securement of all cargo on their vehicle prior to
transport.

commercial driver license/permit if proven to be negligent in securing their load

Load in accordance with the
allowed vehicle weight

Ensure that the car floor (loading place) is clean
of anything that impedes the laying of the load
firmly

Avoid unnecessary space
between individual load units

Distribute the load to all axes as
equally as possible

Check the load on the


trailer, and there are no
projections or lengths

Are any of the loads exceeding any of the following dimensions?


 Height: 13.6 feet/4.15 meters
 Width: 8.5 feet/2.5 meters
 Rear Overhang: 4.9 feet/1.5 meters
Note: In some jurisdictions, escort vehicles and/or permits may be required for loads
exceeding any of these limits

Ensure that the pipes are


loaded and that the brackets
are placed below them on
one line, and that the pipes
are loaded in a pyramid
shape with good fastening

CAUTION: Pipes are strapped to tape or Chain according to customer's


instructions

Make sure the barrels are tight


and that iron corners are
placed on the edges

Ensure that small things


are bound and placed in a
safe place

equipment and materials
are in good condition and
free from defects

Check that the securing
equipment and materials display
legible and correct markings

Determine the number and
type of lashings and/or chains
to best secure the load

Be sure to use the Pivoting lever dog


instead of the Fixed lever dog

Determine the number of anti-slip
mats and other securing materials
(pallets, edge protectors, etc)
to best secure the load

Check that securing arrangements
do not damage the load and
that the load does not damage
the securing arrangements

Determine the best method(s) to
secure the defined load (blocking,
direct lashing, top-over lashing,
or combinations of method
