Health and Emergency. With the head office located in Yangon, ADRA Myanmar has 4 main
sub offices including: Gangaw, Magway Region, Pyin Oo Lwin, Mandalay Region, Lashio, Shan
State and Hpa-An, Kayin State.

Position : Assistant Engineer (WASH)


Reports to : WASH Engineer

Position Summary:

Assistant Engineer (WASH) assists WASH Engineer and the implementation of WASH project team with
the aim of reducing health risks for affected populations in the areas of water, sanitation, and hygiene.
The Assistant Engineer is expected to be able to assist technical support,conduct situational analyses in
the field and have strong knowledge of WASH SPHERE Standards. Assistant Engineer checks and
monitors WASH construction activities and pays the training for the villagers about O & M knowledge.

Assistant engineer reports progress report to supervisor, prepares monthly work plan with team and
maintains to get good quality of WASH construction activities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

A. General Duties
• Uphold the mission and values of ADRA Myanmar.
• Adhere to the regulations, procedures, and policies of ADRA Myanmar.

B. Key Responsibilities

• Lead on WASH construction activities and related WASH activities with WASH
Engineer, include design of activities, BoQs and monitoring of any construction or
renovation in accordance with government regulations and SPHERE standards.
• Ensure timely implementation of activities according to work plan and project proposal.
• Assist in developing and modifying relevant IEC materials that will be used for training
and in carrying out hygiene promotion campaign with WASH team.
• Assist WASH Engineer in liaising with relevant actors in different stagesof WASH project
implementation to follow up on agreements and recommendations.
• Assist in developing existing project within the WASH sector and NFI distribution.
• Assist in consolidating and providing technical guidance and support to implementing
partners on all water, sanitation, and hygiene promotion related issues, to ensure quality,
cost- effectiveness, sustainability, and environmental soundness in their implementation.
• Assist in defining the reference standards to be adopted in the planned WASH
infrastructure Develop Bills of Quantities (BoQs), and tender documents.
• Make sure Operations and Maintenance of existing systems, such as tanks, pumps, pipe
networks and related WASH construction activities in targeted area.
• Negotiate access to identified suitable natural water sources with relevant stakeholders
while ensuring adherence to the Do no harm principle.
• Conduct technical assessments and data analysis.
• Facilitate participatory and community-based approaches.
• Attend relevant meetings as requested by supervisor.
• Provide regular situational updates to WASH Engineer and Project Manager.
• Report progress report/field report according to project guidelines (statistical reports,
etc.).
• Support WASH Engineer and Project Manager in any other duties as required.

Job Requirements:

• AGTI (Civil) or prefer Degree in Civil Engineering

• Must have at least (2) years of relevant experience as WASH engineering
• Professional experience supervising, managing, or training staff
• Be familiar with communities’ work and local organizations on awareness raising,
prevention and mobilization
• Proficient in Engineering Software such as Auto CAD, Sketch Up & excel, word, power
point
• Excellent communication skills in local and English languages
• Have the ability to motivate others, good problem-solving personality
• Be able to interact with people from a wide range of backgrounds, have a mature, non-
judgmental, confident, and caring manner.

This position is a contract position (renewable based on funding and performance).
