PART 1 - GENERAL
B. General Requirements for HVAC Work, Section 15020, applies to work of this
Section.
A. The work includes the providing of all labor, supervision, materials, equipment,
accessories, services and tests necessary to complete and make ready for operation
by the Owner, all fan coil units in accordance with Drawings and Specifications.
2. ARI: Certify that the capacities of each model and size is in compliance with
industry standard 440-89 for Room Fan Coil Units.
3. ARI: Test and rate each model and size for sound in accordance with industry
standard 443-71 for sound ratings of Fan Coil Air Conditioners.
4. Guarantee each unit to operate at the certified sound levels. Replace any unit
which does not fulfill this requirement.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
A. Units of blow-through design complete with fans, motors, insulated drain pan,
insulated auxiliary drain pan and water coil, as follows:
1. 1.2mm galvanized steel housing fully lined with 15mm, glass fiber acoustic and
thermal insulation.
2. Fabricate main drain pan, extended type, and auxiliary drain pan of 1.2mm
galvanized steel and line them with a closed cell, fire retardant, sound foam
insulation.
4. Motors are to be 3-speed tap wound, permanent split capacitor type with UL
listed thermal overload protection. Arrange the motor blower assembly for easy
removal, including a quick disconnect on the motor cord. Include sleeve type or
ball bearing type motor bearings with oil tubes and oversized oil reservoirs.
5. Coil no less than 4-rows deep, fabricated of 15mm O.D. copper tubes and
aluminum fins mechanically bonded to the tubes. Include a manual air vent
discharging to the drain pan and a drain cock. Factory leak test at 2,410 KPa
(349.5 psi) and rate coils at a working pressure of 2,067 KPa (299.8 psi).
7. All electric wiring between the fan motor, unit mounted controls and junction box
mounted on the unit will be run in BX cable and factory installed by the
manufacturer. Provide suitable terminals for field connections of power and
thermostat and valve control wiring.
8. Furnish the following controls to be installed by this contractor and wired by the
Electrical Contractor.
A. Units of blow-through design complete with fans, motors, insulated drain pan,
insulated auxiliary drain pan, independent chilled and hot water, coils, as follows:
1. 1 mm gauge galvanized steel housing with coil section and front panel fully
lined with 13 mm & 1Kg/M² density glass fiber acoustic and thermal
insulation, removable front access panel, two flush access doors, stamped
return air grille, filter rack and 25 mm filter, and a double deflection,
integral steel supply grille. Finish the cabinet, including the discharge grille
and return air selected by the Architect.
2. 1.2mm galvanized steel housing fully lined with 15mm, glass fiber acoustic
and thermal insulation.
3. Fabricate main drain pan, extended type, and auxiliary drain pan of 1.2mm
galvanized steel and line them with a closed cell, fire retardant, foam
insulation. Provide 19 mm drain connection with rubber flex connector and
bronze trap.
5. Motors are to be 3-speed tap wound, permanent split capacitor type with
locally approved thermal overload protection. Arrange the motor blower
assembly for easy removal, including a quick disconnect on the motor cord.
Include sleeve type or ball bearing type motor bearings with oil tubes and
oversized oil reservoirs.
6. Cooling coil no less than 4-rows deep, fabricated of 15mm O.D. copper
tubes and aluminum fins mechanically bonded to the tubes. Include a
manual air vent discharging to the drain pan and a drain cock. Factory leak
test at 2,410 KPa (349.5 psi) and rate coils at a working pressure of 2,067
KPa (299.8 psi).
7. Heating coil, 1-row fabricated of 12mm O.D. copper tubes and aluminum
fins mechanically bonded to the tubes. Include a manual air vent
discharging to the drain pan and a drain cock. Factory leak test at 2410 psig
and rate coils at a working pressure of 2067 psig.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1 INSPECTION
A. Examine area and condition under which fan coil units are to be installed. Notify
Architect in writing of conditions detrimental to proper completion of the work.
Do not proceed with the work until unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.
3.2 INSTALLATION
A. Furnish and install factory assembled fan coil units of the types, sizes, capacities, and
arrangements indicated on the drawings and specified herein.
B. Fabricate as separate drain pan if the valves, strainers and copper fittings don’t install
oner the extended drain pan.
