1. PURPOSE

The purpose of this standard operating procedure is to provide a guideline to the user in
performing to use the Ratchet lashing system to tied down securely to pallet, truck bed or
somewhere else. learning how to use ratchet tie down can be key to safe cargo management. 

2. INTRODUCTION

A heavy-duty ratchet tie-downs are engineered for industrial cargo control. Keeper tie-downs

3. PROCESS INSTRUCTION:

3.1. INSTRUCTION ON HOW TO STRAP RATCHET TIE DOWN

1)Insert loose strap end of strap into mandrel of 2) pull strap through slot in mandrel
rachet

3) Pull slack out of strap to make strap tight 2) pull strap through slot in mandrel

6) Lock handle down after tightening

3.2. INSTRUCTION ON HOW TO RELEASE RATCHET TIE DOWN

1) Pull trigger toward back handle 2) Open rachet all the way

3) Webbing should release 4) Pull webbing out of mandrel

5) Pull trigger to unlock 6) Close ratchet back down

4. INSPECTIONS CHECKING FOR DAMAGE

4.1. Ratchet lashing system must be regularly inspected to ensure they are not
damaged. Even minor damage can drastically reduce the strap’s capacity and
increase the chance of failure during use.
The entire ratchet strap assembly must be inspected before each use and
removed from service if any of the following are detected:
identification tag is missing or illegible
 Holes, tears, cuts, snags, or embedded materials
 Broken or worn stitches in the load-bearing splices
 Knots in any part of the webbing
 Distortion, excessive pitting, corrosion, or other damage to buckles or end
fittings

5. STORAGE METHOD
There are three main things need to avoid when storing ratchet lashing system:
5.1. Moisture 
Storing ratchet lashing system is a place where they are exposed to moisture
can cause it to mold and mildew. Mold can extremely weaken the strength of the
webbing and the polyester can be destroyed, even in heavy-duty lashing
system.

5.2. Direct Sunlight 


Ratchet lashing system should always be stored in a dark, dry place away from
direct sunlight. Color of the strap will fade when exposing to harmful UV rays,
and they can get sun damaged

5.3. Friction & Heat 


Exposer to heat can cause weakening issues. This can also occur if the lashing
system rub against a sharp edge or other objects while in use. If notice any burn
marks in lashing system, item immediately be placed out of service.
