Possible solution for unidentified network access Windows 7 build 7200 7 posts Kuwait
Hi! i did 2 installation of Windows 7 (1 clean and other upgrade) both resulting in "unidentified network access". Looked all over the internet for solution and tried all of them but none worked. I am having Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC. In the end after almost giving up all hope and possible return to vista, i tried the following 1.Right Clicked Local Area Connection 2.Clicked Configure 3.Advanced Tab 4.Highlighted Network Address and changed value by entering random 12 alphanumeric characters (i used 02EF22FD2310 from the top of my mind) 5. I ran into this on a second adapter after a fresh 7(64) installation. I read your solution, omar, and by jove it worked. thank you, sir. i used the numbers from your post, btw I thought i would confirm, since this is rather wonky behavior and could have many people scratching their heads for hours.

dont know why entering the binary phony mac address would fix this, cuz thats what you coincidentally did - all the while in the first setup, it looks like you had IPv6 disabled, and it re-enabled afterwards. Basically, in its buggerness, it looks as tho you have done something like a "clone mac address". I'm going to go out on a limb, and depending on what all you do with your pc, adpater, and how many adapters one would be running at the same time, you may run into problems. You may still run into an issue down the road even with the 1 adapter. So in "theory" that adapter has TWO mac addresses....... things that make you go hmmmm. So possibly in another theory/brainstorm with this scenario, why couldnt you clone the mac address of your router, then hook that adapter/mac to a loop, or in other words, manage traffic per the router mac, via the clone adapter mac. Funky, and probly not possible, but it just makes one think that this would turn more problems later, rather more than answers. I also want to say that the disabling of the IPv6 could have been a factor of play in in this scenario. Also the fact that you had your gateway configured as 192.168.1.254, is that your router ip, and how is your network setup exactly, how many routers? Have you tried running static versus dhcp?

Hi Digger, Yea my router ip is 192.168.1.254. I've just got 1 router. I did try running static vs. DHCP but it didn't working. With regards to disabling the ipv6. Well... I was trying all possible solution then finally tried the phony mac address which solved my problem. Later i enabled ipv6 to ensure the problem doesn't recur. So in the end i concluded that if ipv6 is enabled or disabled didn't matter on my m/c. So far since the solution, i've not encountered any network error nor has it effected the performance. I know it's strange but it works.

Yupper: Same problem upgrading in place from Vista HP to W7HP and this fixed it.
