The Murdered Magicians

The Templars and their Myth

by
Peter Partner

p xiv
The Crusades grew from that par tof men’ts minds in which the baoundaries etween the
real nd the metaphorical, the signifier and the signified, are shifting and uncertain. They
are evidenc of man’s idealism,k bu also of hi scruelty and folly; like other episodes in the
history fo religion they tell us tha treligious metaphoses can be turned into political
realistie sby means of blookshet and terror.

See, this drives me nutsl! There is, of course, much truth in what he says, but they
ALWAYS skill the part about how people are just compelled to do what they are told,
and the myth is just the rationalization used to lie about the real truth, which is that the
overlords are doing some kind of booty and/or power grab, and using their peons to do
the dirty work, and the peons know damn good and well they’d better not say that the
rationalization is a crock of shit. I really don’t think most people believe the lies they are
told, I think they just know to keep their mouths shut, their eyes down, and hope they can
make it out alive.
