Chapter 1: Introduction

Viewshine U-GR2 as a smart ultrasonic gas meter with GPRS wireless communication modules
and internal shutoff valve, and supporting IC pre-payment and different power supply styles brings
customers different configuration options at economical principle. In its extended measuring range of
0.016~6m3/h. U-GR2 keeps high level of accuracy for its very sensitive ultrasonic sensor. No-moving
parts, full electronic measurement and temperature compensation drive all combine to give long term
stability in this meter service life.

U-GR2 is available in different models with the following main common features:

3.1 Alarms
With advantages of design and ultrasonic measurement technology, U-GR2 implements in particular
the following services of detecting and display:

 Low battery

 Reverse flow

 Leakage Detecting with displaying “Err-7”

 Overload Detecting with displaying “Err-8”

3.2 Diagnostics
U-GR2 implements in particular service of diagnostics and display:

 Pressure sensor failure with displaying “Err-0”

 Temperature sensor failure with displaying “Err-1”.

 Memory chip failure with displaying “Err-2”.

 Metering Module failure lasts for more than 1 hour with displaying “Err-9”

3.3 Valve Control

U-GR2 implements in particular service of valve control in the following cases:

 Low battery

 Metering module failure

 Reverse flow

 Memory chip failure

 Remote control command

 Leakage(Optional)

 Overload (Optional)

3.4 User interface

The user interface consists of LCD display, button. The following paragraphs describe the interaction
between the operator and the user interface, and the meaning of the various fields available on the
display.

3.4.1 LCD display

The display is an LCD display that consists of 9 7-segment characters and a series of icons. The
meanings are described below.

3.4.2 Button

1) Short-press (0.5s) button each time to switch LCD display, see Table 4 “Display”

2) In the screen of “Time” long press for 3s to switch to engineering interface. Please note that this
function is designed for the configuration by the authorized person only.

3.4.3 Communication
U-GR-6 is compatible with two communication interfaces, a local one and a remote one.

Local interface:
Optical Port: It is designed for the factory configuration and requires an external optical probe.
The optical port is normally on if the battery voltage is higher than 3.6V .

Remote interface:
GPRS Module: it is used for the utility to collect and analyze data with SIM card.

U-GR2 with integrated GPRS module implements in remote services as below:

Chapter 4: Mechanical installation

4.1 Notes
1) Before installation, carefully check that liquid or particles are not in gas meter’s inlet and outlet.

2) It is better to install the gas meter downstream of valve in pipeline.

3) U-GR is precision instrument; please handle it gently to prevent shock and vibration.

4.2 Mount
1) Read 4.1 Notes thoroughly before mounting please.

2) Mount the gas meter horizontally (Thread pattern: M30*2). Ensure the arrow direction as same
as gas flow direction.

3) Make sure the gas meter is mounted under cool, dry and frost free conditions to avoid direct solar
radiation and rain.

4) After mounting, open the upstream valve, and light the gas appliance for a while. Check the
accumulated consumption volume, if the value increases, it means gas meter work well,
installation is completed!
