7. Ambulances are dispatched at the rate one every 15 ± 10 minutes. 15% of the calls are
false alarms which require 12 ± 2 minutes to complete. All other calls can be of two
types. The first type are classified as serious, which constitute 15% of the non-false
alarms, and take 25 ± 5 minutes to complete. The remaining calls take 20 ± 10 minutes
to complete. Assume that there are a very large number of available ambulances, and
H
that any number can be on call at any time. Simulate the system for 500 calls to be
completed. [10]

8.a) What is a Data Flow model? Explain with an example. Explain the components and
levels of Data Flow diagram.
SE
b) Explain the following characteristics of JIT system: Pull method of materials flow,
Small lot sizes, and Uniform work station loads. [5+5]
OR
9.a) Discuss the Computer Aided Manufacturing considerations when planning for flexible
D
manufacturing systems.
b) How do the flexible manufacturing systems compare with just-in-time production
systems? Compare and contrast both. [5+5]
