CONTROLS
OSCILLATOR

On: Turns the oscillator on or off.

Type: Selects the oscillator type from a choice between analog, digital and additive types.
Vol: Attenuates the volume of the oscillator.
Pan: Pan the oscillator left and right.

Oct: Offsets the pitch of the oscillator from the incoming MIDI note in octave intervals.
Semi: Offsets the pitch of the oscillator from the incoming MIDI note in semitone intervals.
Fine: Offsets the pitch of the oscillator from the incoming MIDI note in cent intervals.
Ph: Determines the starting phase of the oscillator when each new note is played.

ANALOG OSCILLATOR

lators signal with a ring modulated signal of
the oscillators with each other.

01 ANALOG OSCILLATOR

lator between a sine, saw, triangle, pulse,
white noise, pink noise or brown noise.
Oct: Offsets the pitch of the oscillator from
the incoming MIDI notes in octave intervals.

Fine: Offsets the pitch of the oscillator from
the incoming MIDI note in cent intervals.
Sync: Applies hard sync where oscillator A is
the master and oscillator B is the slave.

DIGITAL OSCILLATOR
Wavetable Select 01: Selects the wave shape
to be used by wavetable oscillator 01 from the
choices provided in the wavetable.
Wavetable Select 02: Selects the wave shape
to be used by wavetable oscillator 02 from the
choices provided in the wavetable.
Mix: Crossfades the volume of wavetable
oscillators 01 and 02.
Load: Allows loading alternative wavetables
into each oscillator.

Loaded wavetables save with presets and projects as long as the files are kept in Appdata\Roaming\Ocean Swift\Defiant
WT\Wavetables , copy wavetable files that you would like to use into that folder. The wavetable expects cycle sizes of 2048
samples in 44100 sample rate and will slice the table to 100 cycles to be scrolled through by the wave select knob.

CONTROLS
OSCILLATOR

ADDITIVE OSCILLATOR
Draw Harmonics: Sets amplitude for up to 16
sine harmonics that are added to produce the
oscillator wave. Hold Shift to control just one
harmonic.
Normalize: Normalizes the harmonics. Keep-
ing normalize off results in squaring off of the
harmonics and results in more grungy-sound-
ing waves. Turning normalize on allows for
more moderate and controlled results.
Random: Randomizes the values of the addi-
tive harmonics, based on the maximum value
set with the range parameter. The randomiza-
tion is either completely free, or it can be
mildly scaled using the scale button.
Scale: Applies scaling to the randomization of
the additive harmonics when the rand button
is triggered. The scaling is intentionally
imperfect, allowing for slight variations.
Range: The maximum range used for the rand-
omization

CONTROLS
VECTOR MIX & AMP ENVELOPE
VECTOR MIX
On: Turns the vector mix sec-
tion on and off. Note that
when the vector section is
turned off the oscillator vol-
umes are controlled solely by
each oscillator’s volume knob.
XY Grid: Can be manipulated
and set directly by the mouse,
or the X and Y knobs. Note that
the vector LFOs do not provide
visual feedback to the grid.
X: Knob for controlling the X
position on the XY grid.
Y: Knob for controlling the Y
position on the XY grid.

AMP ENVELOPE
Velocity: Determines whether the amplitude of the envelope is controlled by incoming MIDI
velocity information or not.

A: Determines the length of the attack portion of the envelope.

D: Determines the length of the decay portion of the envelope.
S: Determines the sustaining volume of the envelope.
R: Determines the length of the release portion of the envelope.

03
CONTROLS
ENVELOPES & MODULATION

ENVELOPES
PITCH, FILTER 1, FILTER 2

Env: Determines the depth of

modulation applied by the
envelope.
A: Determines the length of
the attack portion of the enve-
lope.
D: Determines the length of
the decay portion of the enve-
lope.
S: Determines the sustaining
volume of the envelope.
R: Determines the length of
the release portion of the
MODULATION (LFOs) envelope.
PITCH, VECTOR, FILTER 1, FILTER 2

On (Vectors): Turns the Vector LFO on or off. When turned on the LFO overrides the corre-
sponding vector knob position.
Mod Type: Selects the LFO type between analog, digital, additive and draw types.

Depth: Determines the depth of modulation applied to the filter by the LFO.
Rate: The speed of the modulation. When in sync mode the control and rate are determined by
a division of the incoming BPM. When in free mode the control and rate are
determined by frequency in hertz.
Sync Button: Switches between free rate and bpm sync mode for the LFO’s speed.
RT: Retrigger Button. When turned on, retriggers the LFO cycle from zero phase with each new
MIDI note.
Range: When in free mode determines the maximum range of the rate knob.

MOD TYPE: ANALOG

Wave: Selects the waveform of the LFO between a sine, saw, triangle, square, glide or sample
& hold.

MOD TYPE: DIGITAL

Wave: Selects the waveform of the LFO between the shapes available in the wavetable. See
the Oscillator wavetable load section on more information on loaded wavetable files.

MOD TYPE: ADDITIVE

Draw Harmonics: Sets amplitude for up to 16 sine harmonics that are added to produce the
oscillator wave. Hold Shift to control just one harmonic.
Normalize: Normalizes the resulting wave. Keeping normalise off results in squaring off of the
harmonics at the clipping point and results in more grungy-sounding waves. Turning normal-
ize on allows for more moderate and controlled results.

MOD TYPE: DRAW

Draw Waveform: Allows drawing of the wave with the mouse.
Normalize: Normalizes the resulting wave. Keeping normalize off results in squaring off of the
wave at the clipping point and results in more grungy-sounding waves. Turning normalize on
allows for more moderate and controlled results.
04
