ASIA
1. Tabish khair (India)
An Indian English author and Associate Professor in the Department
of English at the University of Aarhus, Denmark.

Text 1- The Thing About Thugs


A subversive, macabre novel of a young Indian man’s misadventures
in Victorian London as the city is racked by a series of murders.

Text 2-“THE BUS STOPPED”


 A very angry bus driver, abandoned by his wife and going
nowhere in his career.

2. Young-ha Kim (south Korea)


 was born in Hwacheon. He moved from place to place as a child,
since his father was in the military.

Text 1- I Have the Right to Destroy Myself


A spectral, nameless narrator haunts the lost and wounded of big-city
Seoul, suggesting solace in suicide. Wandering through the bright
lights of their high-urban existence, C and K are brothers who fall in
love with the same woman.

NORTH AMERICA
1.Mark Twain
- Samuel Language Clemens, known by his pen name Mark Twain, was
an American writer, humorist, entrepreneur, publisher and lecturer, He was
lauded as the “greatest humorist the United States has produced.
Text 1- The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
A nineteenth-century boy from a Mississippi River town recounts his
adventures as he travels down the river with a runaway slave, encountering
a family involved in a feud.
Text 2- The Adventures of Tom Sawyer
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer revolves around the youthful
adventures of the novel's schoolboy protagonist, Thomas Sawyer,
whose reputation precedes him for causing mischief and strife

2.T.S. ELIOT
Thomas Stearns Eliot was a poet, dramatist and literary critic. He
received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1948 "for his outstanding, pioneer
contribution to present-day poetry.
TEXT 1- The Waste Land and Other Poems.
Few readers need any introduction to the work of the most influential poet
of the twentieth century. In addition to the title poem, this selecion includes
"The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock", "Gerontion", "Ash Wednesday", and
other poems from Mr. Eliot's early and middle work.
Text 2- Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats
These loveable cat poems were written by T.S. Eliot for his godchildren and
friends in the thirties. They have delighted generations of children since,
and inspired Andrew Lloyd Webber's brilliant musical Cats. 
Latin America*
1. Mario Vargas Llosa
- Was born in 1936 in Arequipa, Peru’s second largest city. During his
childhood in Cochamba, Bolivia, and he believed that his father had died.
Text 1: THE BAD GIRL
Originally published 2006 in Spanish as Travesuras De La Nina Mala,
is a novel by Peruvian author Mario Vargas Llosa, who won the Nobel Prize
In Literature in 2010.
Text 2: THE TIME OF THE HERO
Is a 1963 novel by Peruvian writer Mario Vargas Llosa, who won the Nobel
Prize in 2010. It was Vargas Llosa first novel and is set among the cadets
at the Leoncio Prado Military Academy in Lima, which he attended as a
teenager.
2. Octavio Paz
- was a Mexican Poet and diplomat for his body of work, he was awarded
the 1977 Jerusalem Prize, the 1981 Miguel De Cervantes Prize and the
1982 Neustadt International Prize for literature.
Text 1: La Estacion Violenta
Goulet writes of his hard scrabble upbringing and life in a French Canadian
Timber Town.
Is one of the best poetry books written in Spanish during 20th century.

Text 2: Piedra De Sol


Is the poem written by Octavio Paz in 1957 that helped launch his
International reputation.
EUROPE
1. Giovanni Boccaccio
- was an Italian writer, poet, correspondent of Petrarch, and an important
renaissance humanist. He was known par excellence as the Certaldese,
and one of the most important figures in the European literary panorama of
the fourteenth century.
Text 1: Elegia Di Fiammetta
 Is a novel by the Italian writer Giovanni Boccaccio, probably written
between 1343 and 1344.
Text 2: The Filocolo
Is a novel written by Giovanni Boccaccio between 1335-1336. It is
considered to be the first novel of Italian literature written in prose.

2.HOMER
 is considered the author of The Iliad and The Odyssey, and is revered as
the greatest of ancient Greek epic poets.
Text 1: The Odyssey
 Odyssey is literature's grandest evocation of everyman's journey though
life. Odysseus' reliance on his wit and wiliness for survival in his encounters
with divine and natural forces,
Text 2: The Iliad
The Iliad is an epic poem written by the Greek poet Homer. It tells the story
of the last year of the Trojan War fought between the city of Troy and the
Greeks.
Africa
1. Khaled Mattawa
- is a Libyan poet, and a renowned Arab- American writer, he is also a
leading literary translator focusing on translating Arabic poetry into English.
Text1: The Zodiac of Echoes
Is a marvelous linguistic fusion of these diverse cultures and geographies.
Text 2: Amorisco
 Is a book of Shifting sands and apple- scented smoke, a book of
surfaces whose solidity erodes or fractures of flowers unexpectedly, a book
of history and secrets and secret histories, a book of supplication and
vision which returns the lyric to its ancient roots in song and prayer
2.ama Ata Aidoo
- is a Ghanaian author, poet, playwright and academic. She was the
minister of Education under the Jerry Rawlings Administration.
Text 1: Anowa
- Is a play by Ghanaian playwright Ama Ata Aidoo that was published
in 1970, after Aidoo returned from Stanford University in California to teach
at the University of Cape Coast.
Text 2: Our Sister Killjoy
-Is the debut novel of Ghanaian author Ama Ata Aidoo, first published by
Longman in 1977. It has been called a witty, experimental work whose
main point is a stylish dismissal of characteristics attitude of both the white
world and the black middle class.

Literature can help us gain knowledge by reading different texts


that help us improve our thinking in life. Every piece of
literature has a different story and moral, which helps us learn
life lessons from it, and it helps us be brave and creative.

b. How is your learning from the different authors of the world affect your
decisions, actions, and their consequences?

Getting to know writers from different parts of the world helps


us understand and learn other techniques and cultures. And
allows us to know the various parts of the world better. It also
helps us to have a different understanding that helps us make the
decision in life.
