Researchers highlights the innovation of Dual Heat Source Multi- Commodity Dyer

Radio program helps the Bicol University to launch the ‘’Programang Pang-edukasyon at
Pangkabuhayan’’. In this radio program, the aim is to be closer to the communities and reach
out the various programs.
The BUEMD’s radio program the ‘’Programang Pang-edukasyon at Pangkabuhayan’’
introduced the topic ‘’Dual Heat Source Multi-Commodity Dryer’’ the innovation of researchers
aired last April 7 at Radyo Veritas Legazpi City. In this episode, they featured the resource
persons with their valuable innovations, hosted by Prof. Edgar Barrameda and Prof. Anacito
Dematera.
Prof. Joel Habalo, BUCIT, Associate Professor V, introduced the characteristics of new
prototype of innovation in food management. The dryer was started to invent when the
faculties observed problems in drying fruits and preserving the commodities.
‘’As of now, we invented an old prototype of dryer that is made of wood and aluminum. The
teachers and students are using it in food technology and management as a laboratory. This
innovation would be very helpful to the small-scale manufacturer that aren ’t afforded to buy
it.’’ he added.
Meanwhile, Prof. Joel Sales, BUCIT, Associate Professor IV, discussed on the difficulties of
inventing the technology such as the materials needed for designing it. With the patience, he
said that it is possible to have a good invention.
With the raise fund of Department of Science and Technology (DOST), it helps them to
produce a dryer that improves food hygiene and development of prototype. By this, it can
improve to balance the temperature and it serves to preserve the commodities. The
researchers shared their knowledge on how this innovation will benefit the general public and
the communities.
