the best!
Drink plenty of water.

Wash your hands properly.
Participate in the household activities. Keep your room clean and orderly. Take time to
have a little physical exercise like jogging, brisk walking, running etc. with any member
of the family
Continue to practice waste segregation.
Keep safe always especially when you out.
Be updated on current events. Trust only credible sources of news and information.
Connect with your friend and classmates.
Plan your day. Balance learning, play, prayer and reflection time.

Good day! Before we start, let us first clear our mind and feel the presence of the Lord. Let us
pray the Lord’s Prayer. Thereafter, find a comfortable place where you can work properly and make sure
to prepare the materials necessary for the activities.
In this module we will explore the topic about installing of telephone terminal cabinet and
identifying tools/equipment and materials needed for the installation of telephone terminal cabinet in
line with job requirement. The Cabinet, according to the Philippine Electrical Code must have doors and
are thus distinguished from large boxes with covers consisting of plates attached with screws and bolts.
Other telephone terminal cabinets are secured to the wall studs, or often to a thick, fire-proofed,
plywood, backer board.
The location WHERE you install the terminal cabinet is important, as you need to keep in mind
the location of your telephone switch (or cable head), and where all of your telephone cables will, by
necessity, enter the telephone cabinet. Think of how you will need to run the cross-connect (jumper)
wires that connect the switch terminals to the wire-wrap, punch down blocks, or Ethernet patch panels to
the telephones in the work areas. Place distribution rings, or cable management hardware so that the
routing of your cross-connects will be as neat as possible. The cabinet should be electrically grounded,
and it may possibly require electrical outlets to be installed. A well-designed Communications Terminal
Cabinet is a joy to work in. A poorly-designed terminal cabinet can give a technician nightmare!
A good Communications Engineer will address all of the above concerns (and a few more),
before his plans are submitted and approved by the facility manager, building owner, and possibly a few
other officials who local laws dictate that they be involved. The installation technician needs to have
good floor plans, elevation drawings, explicit instructions, and the proper parts to complete the
installation, and these are usually provided by the Comm Engineer.
If this is your very first installation of a Communication Terminal Cabinet, you might want to
seek out assistance of a Comm Engineer, or tour a few other buildings with similar Communication
requirements and learn from, and follow, good examples you see therein!

How do I install basic electrical wiring at home?
1. Get your favorite browser fired up or grab a copy of your local Yellow Pages.
2. Look up/search for “Electricians.”
3. Call up several of those you find listed, and look up their reviews. Find one you like.
4. Have them do the work required.
The problem here is that if you have to ask how, you’re not knowledgeable or experienced enough to do
the work by yourself. If you want to learn how to do it right, then that’s a different series of steps:
1. Pick up some instructional books on home wiring at your local home supply store
(Home Depot, Lowe’s, etc.) and study them.
2. Find a friend who has some experience in home wiring to help walk you through some
simple procedures/installations. DO NOT attempt to do these by yourself without
someone to check your work. Along those lines:
3. Whenever required by local building codes (call your county inspector’s office and
ask), be sure to pull a permit and have the inspector in whenever required to sign off on
the work. These guys are nothing to be afraid of - I have consistently found building
inspectors to be friendly and helpful; if they find something wrong, they’ll point it out
to you and tell you what needs to be done to correct it. You might not like redoing the
work, but it is FAR better to do it and to get it right BEFORE your mistakes are hidden
behind drywall and paint or brick. Not only is it easier to fix then, it’s a LOT safer than
leaving an error buried in the wall.
4. Do NOT try to take shortcuts. Never, ever. If you’re supposed to have a connection in
a junction box, put in the damn junction box. If you’re supposed to use wire of a
certain minimum size (gauge number), use the right size, not one that’s the next
smaller gauge but you happen to have a length just laying around. Use the correct
staples. Drill the holes where they’re supposed to be, not where it’s easier to get the
drill in. Put in the damn nail guard plates everywhere they’re supposed to go. And so
forth and so on. And for your own safety, always remember that a live wire and a dead
one look the same (even though you can’t say the same for a live vs. dead amateur
electrician). MAKE SURE THE CIRCUIT IS DEAD BEFORE WORKING ON IT.

Good Work, you are able to identify the different materials presented in your first activity. Now
let’s us explore more about installing terminal cabinet.
Some telephone terminal cabinets are mounted to the floor, with either concrete anchors, or
below-the-floor beam clamps, uninstructed channel, unistrut spring nuts, all-thread threaded rod, nuts or
washers.
