05. Discussion: -
• Access to the building:
All the access points to this house are only through the ground floor. There are altogether 2 access
points to the building

a) Lighting and Ventilation: -

The doors and windows of each room and area provide natural lighting and ventilation to the building.
Ground Floor

Living Area: -
GT/February 2014 V2.0
The ventilation and natural lighting to the living area have access through 4 points which are the main door
(D1), the window opening to the garage (W1), and the 3 windows W2 and W3 provide both natural light and
ventilation.
The advantages of incorporating natural sunlight into your home extend beyond the requirement for ventilation;
it also saves money. The cost of electricity accounts for a significant portion of household expenses. The cost of
lighting can be reduced by up to 47 percent when natural light is used. The expenditures can be drastically
reduced if they are supplemented by other energy-saving initiatives at home.
furniture should place around living room in a way that does not obstruct the sunlight to come through windows.
AS light colour absorbs sunlight, ensure that the room is coloured in light pastel colours. soft drapes for the
windows instead of heavy fabrics that hinder the entry of sunlight into room. kitchen
There are 2 access points for natural lighting and ventilation to the kitchen and the pantry. These are the 2
timber-framed windows that open towards the west and the door that access the east side of the land.
Adequate illumination is required for food preparation to ensure safety and cleanliness. Whether you want a
bright room for a family meal or a gloomy area to entertain, kitchen lighting sets the mood. Recessed, pendant,
and LED lighting are the most popular kitchen lighting options. The most energy-efficient and adaptable
lighting currently available. LEDs emit less heat and last four times as long as incandescent bulbs. LED track
lighting not only provides customizable task lighting, but it can also be used to give a touch of flair under
kitchen cabinets and around baseboards.
Toxic chemicals collect throughout the cooking process, such as smoke, steam, and oil, and are released into the
air, damaging the air quality in your kitchen. Carbon Monoxide is a concern if you utilize combustion-based
appliances (CO.) CO is a colorless, odorless gas that can induce loss of consciousness, coma, and even death at
high concentrations. A CO detector will alert you to any potential issues, but the best policy is prevention, and
the greatest preventative is an exhaust hood.
Master bedroom
The ventilation and natural lighting to the master bedroom have access through D3 which are the timber framed
door. and the 3 windows (W3) which one window opens to the East, the D4 door is for the access to the
bathroom.

Visitors’ bedroom
The ventilation and natural lighting to the visitors bedroom have 1 access point which are the Timber framed
window (W3) that can be opened 100%..

Servant’s rooms
Light and ventilation are available in the servant room as well as in the visitors' room through the entrance
door D(4) and windows.

Dining room and pantry area

The dining area on the ground floor has three large windows (W4) with three large windows for light and
ventilation. It provides natural light and ventilation.
Since the kitchen and the dining area isn’t separated from a door or any kind of partition the ventilation and the
lighting that access through the kitchen is also accessible to the pantry where pantry room has a W4 type
window which opens towards the north as well.

Washrooms

The ventilation and natural lighting for the outdoor and indoor toilets are provided through 2 access points
which is the toilet door and the fanlight window which can be opened fully.

GT/February 2014 V2.0

Stairways:
Every staircase should be lit and ventilated from an open-air space of at least 3 m depth measured horizontally in
the case of a ground and one upper floor structure, 4.5 m in the case of a ground and two upper floor structure,
and at least 6 m in higher structures, provided that the lighting area is at least 1 sq. per floor height. Every
stairwell must be appropriately ventilated.

Upper floor
Living Area: -
The ventilation and natural lighting to the living area have access through 2 points which are the main door
(D2), the window opening to the balcony(W1), and the provide both natural light and ventilation.
Bedroom 1

Upper floor bedrooms also receive light and air in two ways. through the entrance door(D3) and through
the windows(W3) in the bedroom.
Bedroom 2

Bedrooms on the upper floor get light and air in two ways as well. in the bedroom, through the front door
(D4) and the windows (W3) Pantry
The family lounge on the upper floor receives natural light from a single window and balcony area.

a) Landscape around the building: -

The septic tank and the soakage pit are the two most important elements in the environment surrounding
the structure. In front of the living area and the veranda area, the space is well-designed. At the owner's
option, the vacant area can be used for a variety of reasons. A pool, a cobblestone road, or a set of seats for
guests to sit on are examples. There is a 4m unoccupied area to the left and right of this land that can be
utilized to some extent. It can be done at the neighbors' discretion. Since the land has the owner's son's
children, some space can be set aside for them to play in front of the garage or on the right side of the land.
You can also use the back of the garage or the back of the house if you prefer to be responsible. It should
be kept out of the sun. Planting large plants near the house is not good for the walls of the house so it can
be planted behind the house to some extent.
The house is on the left side of the road so if required a small flower fence or wall can be built at the
owner's request. Homeowners can build a perimeter wall if they want. It will also be important for the
safety of young children

b) Feasibility of the Housing Project: -

Economic, technological, operational, and organizational feasibility are all factors to consider. The builder's
material charge is considered the specific cost of building a house in economics. This project was finished
with a high level of feasibility. It is in charge of the client's expenses. In terms of technology, I've done my
best to finish the house with what we have now; nevertheless, while you're here, you should also look for
solutions to the different difficulties that arise. They are uttered in the workplace. People who utilize this

GT/February 2014 V2.0

product are taken into account when organizing. When designing, the UDA regulations were rigorously
observed. As a result, when it comes to physically constructing the project, this home idea is feasible and
practicable.
