Perform Job Sheet 3.1-1 You may ask your trainer to observe
and evaluate your performance using
the Performance Criteria Checklist
3.1-1
Learning Objectives:
After reading this INFORMATION SHEET, YOU MUST be able to:
1. Recognize the different types of electrical of wiring symbols.
2. Select and use of electrical wiring symbols to be used in a particular
electrical work.
3. Prepared lay out for electrical plan according to the job requirements.
CONTENT:
A wiring diagram usually gives information about the relative position and
arrangement of devices and terminals on the devices, to help in building or servicing
the device. This is unlike a schematic diagram, where the arrangement of the
components' interconnections on the diagram usually does not correspond to the
components' physical locations in the finished device. A pictorial diagram would
show more detail of the physical appearance, whereas a wiring diagram uses a more
symbolic notation to emphasize interconnections over physical appearance.

WIRING DEVICES
The extent of wiring device work is indicated by drawings and schedules. Wiring
devices are defined as single discrete units of electrical distribution systems
which are intended to carry but not utilize electrical energy.
Work described in this Section includes furnishing all labor, materials, equipment,
tools and incidentals required for a complete and operable installation of wall
switches, receptacles, plugs, device plates and box covers. All equipment
shall be installed, adjusted, tested and placed in operation in accordance with
these Specifications, the manufacturer's recommendations and as shown on
the Drawings.
The following are common electrical wiring devices needed in the electrical
installation.

REMEMBER
1. Personal protective equipment should be taken cared as of the others tools
and equipment. Wipe your hardhat, gloves, and safety shoes before keeping
it.
2. It should also be cleaned, kept in proper tool rack/cabinet.
3. It should be stored in dry places so that it will not have mold build-up.
4. Over-all suites should be washed regularly so that perspirations and other dirt
will be washed clean.
